Travel insurance

Just done a search/ quote online and got one from the P.O for £50 and one from moneysupermarket for £13.70!!!

Which one should I go for?

We only paid £17.50 with t/operator for two weeks. I read somewere that these cheap insurance you have to watch the small print as alot is not covered with them . At the end of the day the decision is yours but personally i go with a company i know.

Even with out tour operator its £45 for just 2 adults and 1 child - 2 weeks

I nearly always get mines from Moneysupermarket aswell,just check what both policy's offer before you buy.

We have had to use our insurance once when the wife and 2 kids went down with salmonella whilst in spain. They were in hospital for nearly 3 weeks, and we all missed our flights home. The insurance company were exelent and got us all home when they were fit to fly. We incurred no costs at all. The moral of the storey is.....it might be cheap but will they come good when you desperatly need it. Please check the policy before you buy.

As many of you know we had to use our insurance this year cost us £54 for a family of 3 for a full year.
They were excellent only had to pay first £50 and they sorted everything else for us total cost would have been almost £3000.
They also phoned every other day right up until the night before we came home to check if we needed anything and had help waiting for us at Dalaman.
When we got home the form was waiting for us to claim the extra expenses eg taxi fare's,phone calls to insurance company from our mobile,prescriptions and they also pay back £50 for every day I was in hospital.
So all in well worth the money,so as everyone else has said read the small print you never know when you might need to use it.
By the way a lot of companies don't cover you if you have an accident while paragliding or bannana boating etc if you only take out basic cover,so if you do this type of thing make sure your covered.

I have a heart condition, so we buy ours annually. It costs me £78 and that covers me and my Husband for 1 year.
People without medical conditions would have this cheaper.

This is the 2nd year i have used Insure and go for my travel insurance. I buy an anual policy as i go to Icmeler twice a year.It only cost me £50 and that included my son for free(children up to 18 free). Some people would say that £50 is dear but i am covered for my asthma and i don't have to pay any excess.
Last month on our first night i took ill and a Dr was called. He came to see me and then proceeded to take me Marmaris for tests etc,after 6hrs he gave me the bill. The Dr that had come to see me didn't work with the insurance company i was with so i had to pay him then claim when i got home.Thankfully i received a cheque last week for the total,£246.

I have told my friends,thanks to Shaz, to take me to hospital where i can make use of my travel insurance and not have to use my spending money as i have paid an excess waiver!

As long as you check what you're covered for and check the small print then go for whatever one gives the best cover for you.

Slightly off topic I know BUT.........

We need to get Mother Inlaw an anual cover, she's like Judithh Charmers the amount of holidays she goes on bless her but she's spending £30 every time she goes away on insurance, but someones said you can't get anual cover for over 65's - is this true ?? If anyone has any info on this it'd be much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm sure if you type into google or yahoo, Annual travel insurance cover for over 65's it will bring plenty of companies offering annual cover for your mum.

i had the cheap travel insurance last year £13.50 of the travel supermarket £50 excess but brilliant hubby had 3 trip too the hospital



could someone reccomend one for my mum and dad last quote looked at £250
they have a few health problems and there over 70

Try Saga. My husband has heart and bypass problems. | have high blood pressure and hiatus hernia. We are both young over 70's! Insurance for us was £170. Wont do annual insurance for us because of hb's medical problems. Good luck. PS have tried others but Saga were cheapest we could get.

Age conern also do one which is very good.They cover all ages and also cover for people with terminal illness etc.

There is a lot of variation in insurance companies, most would not insure me due to previous health problems. Out of the 3 companies who would, one wanted £495, another £300, then I found a fantastic company called Fortis who only charged me £35, all for the same cover.

I am sure thats who my insurers are - Fortis. I have heart problems and they have been really helpful. I have been with them for 3 years now.
