I know this is a stupid question!

Postby cheriton » 24 Jul 2008 18:09

I know this is a stupid question but some of you regular Icmelerites may have the answer. Most of the photos seen on this site show of the pool areas in apartments with plenty of sunbeds that are free. I guess this is because they are taken early in the season. Unfortunately we have to take our hols to Icmeler when the kids are of school when the resort is at its busiest. All the apartments that we have visted, the sunbeds are like gold dust as there are never nearly enough to go round compared with the amount of people staying in the appartments  Does any body know of any apartments that at high season(august) still have enough sun beds for most of the people staying......I told you it was a stupid question.
If they're not ICR can you PM me.

I cant say about hotel/apartments but have you thought of private rental on experiance we have found that most properties will have their own personal sunbeds etc around their own shared pool and price for price there isnt any differance in the cost of your holiday if a few of you sharing its posibly cheaper, just thought id offer another slant on things

Ive never been to Turkey full stop. But it really ***** me off when people get off there lazy fat arses early hours and put there towels on the beds then fall asleep for hours later and swanny down to the sun bed. Hotels and such should put a stop to this practice. We don,t have to go on the school hols but we chose to because we would never take our kids out of school for a cheaper holiday. Sorry if I've offended anyone by saying that but I don't really care.

Ditto, that windes us up too, we stayed in the old village last year in a non ICR apt and the staff wouldn't take the towels off the beds when they were tidying up the beds of an evening. They'd be left on the beds and they wouldn't be used all day - in the end one bloke cleared all the towels off the beds and threw them out on the street

Hi

We stopped last year at the Prince Apartments in August, the pool staff kept a close eye on people leaving their towels on the beds and if they were left for to long they would remove the towels and place them in a basket next to the pool. We never had a problem getting a sun bed even though the apartments were full. Tried to book again for this year but fully booked, booked in the Golmar Beech for this August and hoping the staff here are as thoughtful as the Prince

Hi Cheriton
back to your question is it a must that you stay arond the pool there are houndreds of sunbeds on the beach and I know for a fact that they are free at the far end of the beach where the waiters from the kapisi, harmany etc will serve you all day and also the toilets are free and clean o.k you will pay a bit more for your effes but you also have a good laugh with the lads

The pool at the Mandalin Hotel was never busy during the day - probably because it's so close to the beach people tend to head to teh beach rather than use the pool.

Hi peli, we do use the beach on occaisions and will try the far end as you suggested, but, do prefer the convienience of having the apartment close to hand hence the question.

I think you'd struggle to find that anywhere Cheriton - not just Icmeler
at most places, you've to be up early and if reserving beds with towels that aren't used are a problem, you could do what we do and move the towels - nicely of course
or if you're not brave enough for that, then have a word with the staff - where we stay, they will bring extra beds in if it's getting to be a problem

I think it's the biggest gripe of most folks hols when beds are reserved but not used!

ALternatively, most of the aparts/hotels really don't mind you paying a visit to their pool if they've got beds available

hope this helps

Heh :) Its not a stupid question, actually its very clever one 'cause lots of people doesnt even think about it ;)

But yea, its really making me mad when somebody leaves the towels on sunbeds and they come back on afternoon. Once i have said about this to apartments owner. And the owner told it to other people (in this way you dont get fight with anyone).

I think its okay, if you go to put towels on morning and its waiting there during your breakfast. My parents are very crazy about taking sun and them holiday is defenetly ruded if they miss even a one day under sun  So i have to concede that they are leaving them towels on morning, but after half hour - one hour they are coming back. And they are laying there from morning till late evening.

Hi peter
best way to describe is if you hit the sea and go to your left as far as you can go the walkway does a sharp left hander keep going although you will be aproached by beach lads on the bend ignore them untill you will come to a proper beach bar/resturant on the left you will also see their billboard on the walkway If your on the dolmus ask for either the kapisi or beach it is the last stop, end of road you will see denis kapisi arched sign stairs under it to their beach ,we are there till 3rd oct ask kirem or fred or any of the staff they will point us out hope too see you
best regards

i think Peli means head towards the jetty where all the boat trips go from - the opposite end of the beach to Marmaris?
we use that end and it's lovely

We stay at the Tuncay Apartments and have never ever not had a bed by the pool. There are only 7 apartments, and there are loads of beds.
Mustapha would borrow them from elsewhere if it ever did happen!
