Sending a Text home on vodaphone

Just a quick question, Im off tomorrow, at last, cant believe its finally here. I always use all my credit texting everybody so am going to put some extra on tomorrow. I am on Vodaphone PAYG and have a vodaphone mobile. Does anyone know how much the texts are home and if my phone will work over there. I cant find the insrtuction book but my mobile is only a couple of months old. Im sure it was a tri band one, does this mean it will be ok?

im with 02 i get free credit normally it one credit a text when in spain it was using 3 credits so triple not sure if turkey would be more why dont you either use net cafes and send free texts or buy a phone card they are amazing value for money

Thanks. Yeah I used a phone card last time we were there. Just like to send the odd text while around the pool. Roll on tomorrow!!!

Hi Annie, I use my phone to text home all the time from Turkey but I'm on Virgin network, texts cost 35p. Calls are 95p a minute to call and 60p a minute to receive, so quite expensive. But can't comment on Vodaphone - sorry.

Iam sure it was costing me 25pence a time last year on vodaphone hope this helps

If you go onto vodafone's website I'm sure it will tell you there the costs for texts etc, as it does on the o2 site.

this way you will have the most up to date info as the call and text charges might have come down from last year I know o2's have (well they changed as of 1st July this year, think its to do with regulators trying to get mobile phone companies to bring their charges down).

I went to Turkey In June and used my mobile and was charged £1.37 a minute and 99p to receive calls this is with o2, stupidly I did not check this out before I left and ended up with a bill of £56!!!!, so I would advise to either check before you go or use a pay phone.

Vodafone costs 49p to send a text and around £1.25 to make/receive a call. Better off getting a turkish sim card miles cheaper.

I'm on 02. It's 25p to send a multi media message, 50p to send a text message... how daft!

I used MMS instead of SMS in May and all my messages (and photos ) got through to the UK.

Don't even think about making calls from your mobile and bear in mind you'll be charged to receive a call and voicemail. You're better off buying a phone card to talk.

If anyone has a sim with o2 and it gives you the free 300 texts a month for topping up a £10 a month, then send picture messages they seem to go free (think it comes off the free texts) however if you send a text you get charged? Odd but true I've been sending picture messages for about 4 years now to folk at home instead of texts.

thanks for that andrea i am on o2 pay £15 a month for 500 free texts but when away always get charged for my texts but will definately try picture messages,we go 3 weeks fri cant wait

Dodge your welcome I done this in May so should still work! My brother has done this too when on holiday great saving to be made doing this as well as making everyone at home jealous and saves on sending postcards!

I am the same and if i join ITs for £2.99 i can get my phone calls at 81p per minute

I pay £10 per month 100 mins and 100 text,will this work in turkey the same way as in uk?

We are te same 1 txt from Turkey 4 txt's of allowance
81p per minute to make or recieve calls that is with O2

I phoned 02 yesterday and was told the texts to UK were only 35p

When i got off the phone i decided to look on 02 web site and discovered that texts are actually 49p each back to uk.

The 35p is only for EU countries and as Turkey isnt in the EU you have to pay more.

Just thought id let all you 02 payg customers.

I'm with 3 and it doesn't cost anything to receive a text not even when i was in India, but cost 25p to send a text.

60p a min to receive calls when in Turkey and 80p to make calls.
