Yes totally agree, such is life, what I meant though is I don't want to mention it to the kids, they have already had it off their grandad from 1999 when he was in Marmaris and that was a biggy. It certainly won't put me off.

all joking aside, one lady sadly lost her life during the quake when she tried to get cover. Im sure her family must be devastated so thoughts and prayers are with her family

Just to point out that the lady that died slipped and hit her head while running down the stairs but this was not in Turkey

I felt the earthquake whilst lying in my bed in Icmeler on Tuesday morning, I went back to sleep and woke up thinking I had imagined it, but then everyone was talking about it at the pool - all very odd. I also saw my first ever Turkish cloud on Monday, this turned into thunder and lightening, I watched from the balcony as the lightening struck the hillside and started a fire, then the helicopter came to dump water on it - a very interesting week weather wise!!

hi all, we got back fromicmeler today after 3 glorious weeks there, the earthquake was scarey, to be woken up because your bed was shaking and then to open your eyes and the room is moving is something else. it was strange as we went on a boat trip that same day and when we got back i felt like i was swaying all the time i couldn't even walk straight for the rest of the evening ( that was before i has plenty of efes ) and i love being on a boat and this has never happened before so i was wondering if the earthquake had an effect. Also the thinder and lightening was great to see, but it did cause 3 fires in the mountains around us

I agree with Bella. It was an interesting week weather wise although both myself and hubby slept through the earthquake (must have been the Efes), we watched the lightning strike and following fire. The fire engines were there really quickly and a helicopter circled afterwards to make sure it was out properly.

We were there when It happened and it was very scary. We all had a good laugh about it later as you can imagine the comments about the beds moving

Postby xXxJanxXx » 04 Aug 2008 17:17

If anyone needs the dentist, there is one opposite the tansas supermarket. I had terrible tooth ache and ended up getting my tooth out, very clean, and cheaper than the uk!!
