transfer swap

Postby level200 » 14 Jul 2008 13:39

Hi All

We have booked our holiday a few months back with Thomas Cook, will be booking via ICR next time ;). Now.. we booked a transfer through TC but I really don't fancy the transfer times, could I book a transfer with ICR instead of taking the TC one?

How long will it take to transfer to the Moonlight Apartments?

Am I better off using icr transfer going to the apartment and tc returning or just use icr for both?

It's something I'm now seriously thinking about, we fly with first choice, theres 4 adults and 2 kids how much is it with icr for 6 of us?

Just looked 55 quid for the 6 of us thats just one way, not to bothered about coming back just want to get there quicker. I notice they accept paypal is there a fee on top of that if paying that way?

Be careful if only booking one way, your tour up may cancel both ways and fail to pick you up for the return flight.

I personally would book the return journey, the Thomas Cook coach left the Moonlight last year 2 hours before us and we beat them to the airport by at least 15 minutes.

If you do book a return and even if you manage to get the tour operator rep in resort and tell them you've cancelled (or in my case phoning their office in Marmaris) they will probably still turn up for you on the way home. This is what happened to me last year even although I told the rep at airport, rep at accom couple of days after arriving to be told to tell him nearer end of holiday, couldn't get him and called the office to have them still turn up for us!

Again going with ICR transfer again this year, so much easier and quicker than tour operator :)

We've used ICR a few times now and it's much better. Nice air conditioned mini bus and transfer times cut to the minimum...........and no "rip off" stop  Believe it or not we find it much better on the return leg when everyone is miserable and you just want to get it over with. Plus you usually get to the airport before the coaches and avoid the queues. :D

private transfer for us every time!!!
much better service - not to mention quicker trans time and no chasing round the resorts picking up/dropping off
I think you can book ICR online if you go to the home page - link at the top of this page

Thanks to all the helpful replies :D

After all that we have decided to stick with TC transfer as its late at night and an extra hour wont harm, also the extra £45 for the additional transfer is better going on a nice family meal on the first night.

saying that, we will definitely be transferring via ICR next year as we are booking through them :D

Cheers

once you've had a private transfer John, you won't be going on a tour op one again
it may be an extra £45, but well worth it in the extra time you get in resort at each end
at least this year you'll be able to have plenty of sleep while you're waiting to get into resort - so you're bright eyed and ready to start your hol on arrival
enjoy!!

i know that the icr transfers are first class and allow you to get to your apartments quicker but i do think people are over exxagerating the time it takes for tour operator transfers.last year mine only took 1:45.but i do see your point as one year the coach rboke down 30 mins out of the airport and we were waiting 2 hours for a new coach :/

The time lost on a TO transfare is when you have come out of the airport then sat on the bus waiting for the people who are still waiting for their cases or who have called into duty free.
Then half way through the journey have a comfort stop of 20mins that stretches to 30 mins due again waiting for the straddlers.
Time spent driving round Marmaris dropping other guests off then again in Icmeler doing the same, why is it I always seem to be the last drop off.

Our longest TO transfare was just over 4 hours and we said never again so now do the personel transfare of 1hr 30mins max.

Another reason TO takes longer. People get private transfers and dont tell the reps on arrival that they are not getting on board the bus.

The bus cannot leave airport until it numerous checks are made.

I must be strange it doesnt bother me that much.

I've done one coach op transfer and actually the 20 min break at that place was useful for loo breaks and I was feeling slightly woozy so was glad to stop.

I quite like seeing the other hotels, cos its quite interesting to see parts of the resort I might not have found, or it gives you ideas for next year.

Also we always seem to be in a bigger mini bus on the private transfers going back to Dalaman as we always seem to pick a family up from Avlu 4

My ideal transfer is half an hour, so if they can flatten the mountains, or drill huge tunnels through them I'd be happy.

I get more bored and uncomfy on the plane so that 4 hours flight is like pergatory.

Mind you we went to Spain by coach twice about 10/12 years ago so 26 hours on a coach compared to 2 hours or so is a drop in the ocean LOL.

I wouldnt do the Spain coach thing again unless it was a £5 holiday or something similar. Ferry crossing was good though.

Hi level the first time i ever went to icmeler was with a travel company (hadn't discovered ICR) anyway after a 4 hour flight we then had a transfer from Dalaman to icmeler which took 2 hours 45mins  i could have cried it was awful!!! you have to drop off everyone around Marmaris first, and they stop on the way for a rest 30 mins...

So my advice book a return with ICR its wonderful ...will get you to icmeler in 1 and half hours :D :D all air conditioned and water offered during the journey.

Good luck ....Pauline :D
