Post-holiday depression?

Postby blondie » 05 Jul 2008 12:49

Been back almost a week now and I'm sure I'm suffering from post-holiday depression. Daughter and I are moping around the house all the time, wishing we were back in Icmeler........
Does anyone else feel the same way when they get back home? Is there any cure, other than to return to Icmeler as soon as possible? Already planning my next trip - hopefully September or October. Daughter's also talking about going out there to work at some point - anyone have any helpful hints or advice for her?

Hi blondie.

Weve been back 3 weeks and are still feeling really fed up. The first week was the worst just moping about the house on an evening when home from work with no enthuiasim to do anything. Its a horrible feeling and the best way we found to snap out of it is to book agaain so you have something to look forward to. We go again end of August. It doesnt help that the weather is so rubbish, you cant even plan to have a bbq for risk it will rain. Oh well no point moaning I suppose, just popping down Morrisons to stock up on the Effes.

Hope you feel better soon

I've been home 6 weeks and still not quite half way to the next visit yet - in 8 weeks time.
I have to say I'm not quite so depressed when I come home in May as there's a trip in September to look foward to - but I'm a pretty miserable so and so to be around when I come back from the September trip I can tell you.
Andy's right, if only the weather here would get better it wouldn't seem so bad. It's a real soggy, cold day in Devon today - feel sorry for all those people who have come down on holiday!

Postby jivebunnie0 » 05 Jul 2008 21:08

Only for the first few days, Gemma?????? I suffer Icmeler withdrawal symptoms for at least a month when we come home - hubby says I'm unbearable to live with    I only snap out of it when we book again.

I have now been home 7 weeks and both me just don't want to be here at all, just as well we have September to look forward to and thankfully got flights booked for May 09 so at least it's some sort of consolation of having to come home :(

And weather being crap here doesn't help in the slightest!

Im the same. I cry all the way to the airport  and totally miserable on the plane. I cheer up when I see my dear old dad who always volunteers to drive the hour and a half to the airport to pick us all up. I talk non stop to him about the great time we all had all the journey home and then once it sinks in Im home Im a a right grumpy  for weeks. It wouldnt be so bad if the weather was nice to come back to but if its bad it makes it a hundred times worse

I think Im suffering from that depression too, just been looking at pictures from icmeler over and over, I've only been back 2 days. I think the thing to do is just to get on with things and just think that you've had a lovely holiday there, and just look forward to the next visit.
It didnt really help me to stop being sad, but after a week or so, it should..
I stayed at the Alvaro and had such a nice time!! Met some really nice people, Zaza, ibo, bob, yohan, mehmet all the staff that work there, and had a great time at the lemon tree every time we went, we always had a good laugh with Erkan and Romeo.. The weather back here in Devon is also a bit of a let down considering its JULY! It was raining as soon as we got off the plane, so that didnt help, I still wished we had missed the flight back..
I went to a BBQ tonight, but we had to eat inside because of this awful weather..

God what is it with all of us! I am the same, been back a couple of weeks and all I keep thinking is roll on September. I wonder if it is something about the country we come back to!! Life here isnt exactly a bed of roses at the moment for all of us. The weather is terrible so that isnt helping. Oh well only another 10 weeks to go.

Hi Yasmin

It is lovely in September. Weather nice and warm, not too hot. Prices are around the same. Only thing is as you get towards October the restaurants havent got all the food as they will be running it down. I love this time of year in Turkey though, as do the Turks themselves!! You can pick up some bargains sometimes with it being later in the season. Depends when you go in September. We tend to come back home around the first week of October. We have done really well this year with our holidays as we had very cheap flights, June with Easy Jet and September with Onur through Aegean, which we booked last year! No chance of this happening next year though! Hope this helps.
