Captain Silver Apts

Postby NATAJACK » 07 Jul 2008 11:05

Hi All,
I have been looking for a 2 bed and at least three 1 bed apartments for next August. We stayed in the Iguana this year and loved it, 8) 8) but wanted to check out any other places before booking there again.

After looking on the icr apartment pages we quite like the look of Captain Silver apts. If anyone has stayed there or has any info on these apartments I would love to hear your comments. Only where it’s placed on the map looks like it’s on the top of a black mountain!!

Any comments would be appreciated - good 8) or bad  -Thanks

Hi Natajack

if you use the search button at the top of the screen, you should come across earlier reviews/comments on these apartments

just this minute got back from staying at captain silvers we had a great time the bar staff realy go out of there way to make your stay a happy one . apartments are good but a bit tired but not in a bad way if you are in a front facing room its better to get a upper floor one as the bottom ones are right on the carpark and are in the shade.
please PM me for any other help i may give you.

Stayed here last year and agree exactly with lfc pete.

The reception etc is lovely but the rooms are a bit tired and spartan, even by Turkish standards. The staff were nice - is Mehmet still there? And you get to see goats etc wondering down the mountain, and there are hammocks in the garden etc for the sun.
We stayed at the Rhodes apartments this year and thought they were slightly better, albeit slightly further out. It was much quieter than Captain Silver (club next door was a pain there) and very clean and just "nicer"

Captain Silver apartments

Postby welshdoll3 » 08 Jul 2008 16:29

I am totally gutted and think that it is a great shame that people have found it hard to get a sunbed at these apartments because people are leaving towels on them all day. I am disapointed because I am staying there this year for the first time and have never come across this problem in Icmeler before. If people have been using the bed and have just popped out for breakfast fine but i feel that it is very selfish to hog sunbeds for most of the day when they are not even being used.

we always got one in the garden, it was by the pool that there was a problem but I liked the garden the best as you got the sun longer. if all the beds are taken then you can use the bean bags very comfy 8) .

hi honest geezer
What was the problem with the club next door. Was it noise during the day or late at night?
We are staying there in August.

Sounds like its not improved much from when we were there last year.

Same issues that we had last year are still there.

We gave up on getting a sunbed and sat outside our apt thats the 1 advantage of the 2 bed apts, you can keep an eye on the kids from your door etc and you get the sun. Might have no where to sit apart from the wooden chairs in the apt.

have the 2 bed apts and the lack of warm or hot showers issue been solved yet.

Getting concerned now as there seem to be a few issues with the apartments, hope they don't all turn out to be as I have worked long and hard all year for my holiday and would hate to be spoilt as this may be my last holiday.

Have no worries welshdoll3, still the best apartments in Icmeler with its location and amenities. There is not one hotel/apartment (5star to 1 star) that dont have the same issues from time to time. It seldom happens but when its negative, its mentioned much more quickly which is not wrong but does not mean these problems are repetetive each time and day.

Thanks

Andyr & Welshdoll3 dont worry we were at the front of the apartments over looking the hotel next door, they started the music at 9 am very quiet then at 10 they had it on a bit louder and the dj was on the mike for games but not to loud then it would go off later in the after noon back on for a while but tea time it was off for the night it was not a big problem. apartments were ok just i think they could do with a face lift but we would stay there again so not to bad. Just go and enjoy your self don't worry 8) .

The Mersoy did cause quite a racket one day but I think a complaint was made as it would not be just Captain Silvers that would be disturbed by the noise but its own guests and as we were told it was about £1000 for a fortnight ??? would you put up with it.

Hi geovil, thanks for your reply on the other thread and clafifying things. I did'nt think Mrs Silver would put up with any of that shinanigans. It's a bit worrying though about there being only 30 sun beds concidering there are 35 appartments there. I would of thought a ratio of at least 2 loungers per room would be more appropiate, after all we are on holiday to relax and soak up the sun.

Hi Geovil, Sorry to disagree, firstly on sunbeds we came home at 4.30pm to see the young security guards putting WHITE towels out for guests of the the MIRAGE. The two ladies came over at 2.30pm with all inclusive armbands bringing cups of coffee with them until Elvis sent them packing.
We did not know who the women were until they started an argument with a family on the ground floor from Farnworth about pinching there sunbeds!!!

The next night we reported what had been happening to Elvis who then informed Mrs Silver needless to say this did not happen again.

During our 14 night stay which matched yours, my father-in-law who had a basement appartment had no fewer than 4 different families stay, who used to go in the Mirage through the back gate. The Mersoy is the nicer hotel further down the road with the Turkish Bath.

Sorry, Geo and I admit as in my original post that we did get mixed up in the sunbed wars! We had 6 sunbeds if lucky for a party of 13 and with two babies under 6 months wanted to be near the baby pool.

we are looking to book here next year as we couldnt fault them for location etc
you just cant please most people some of the time, and always the negative points are raised,as i pointed out in another thread,we looked at many apts while we were there, and nothing came close to the feel of the captain silver, albiet we were there when it was quieter, and the sunbeds issue wasnt there (i must admit,if its busy and i couldnt get a bed,i would be pretty miffed)

we looked at the rhodes apts which someone mentioned in this thread, but for me,they were actually quite dangerous in one respect, the entrance was completly open to the road, for which if you had quick wandering kids, could easily find themselves onto the road.they looked clean and new as they should do.they were a little out of the way for me,and i wouldnt fancy walking back late at night with a pushchair as the paths were quite awkward, and the lighting in the nearby streets was minimal

Back to the CS apts, lets see if they are still owned by the silvers,as they are up for sale and were poteinally being sold to the owner of the mirage next door.

During the day it was quite noisey when we were there, up until about 6ish then we went out but it was always quiet at night when we came in

I dont think too much should be made of the "loud music" at the mirage hotel next door
it wasnt that bad,the music came in bursts, and certainly wasnt on all day.
you soon got used to it,and besides elvis had his music on as loud as you wanted anyway.
it wouldnt stop me from going back there anyway, but then some just want total silence whilst they relax, which is fair enough
if you want 2total" peice and quiet, you are better off staying at the back end.

But i assure you,it wont ruin your time at CS apts,at night its a peaceful as you could want it

we just got back last night and were there one the paek of the bed problems round the pool, didnt know about the white towel/mirage episode ,but we did wonder why there was so many white towels on beds.
we allways got a bed on the lawns, which was our prefered choice.BUT one morning i woke up at six am to go to the loo and all the beds had gone except about four on the lawn so had to go down.
BUT just to give an update during our last week,it got a lot better and although i went down at 8.30 to 8.45 each day for about the last 5 or 6 days you could get a bed round the pool or the gardens up to 10.30 easily ,in fact on the lawns they were never full.
They put out bean bags last week end and that help a great deal.
I still think these apaprtments are the BEST and would not hesitate to go back.
YES the mirage DJ wants his mike shoving somewhere at about 11.30 some mornings,i mentioned that last year,it really annoyed me again, but its only for about half hour.
