Just got back.After 3 days the dreaded prickly heat came out on my chest.was taking prescribed medication from GP which did not work so i went and had the injection at the chemist by the tansas supermarket, it cost £10 and after 3 hours the prickly heat dissapeared and did not return for the rest of the holiday(3 weeks ).I suffer really bad usually and this injection is amazing i was able to lie out in the sun all day 50 degrees using piz buin once a day factor 30 lotion and ive got the best suntan ever.This injection is a must for prickly heat sufferers . My sister also had the injection and it also worked for her after a few hours.Hope this help

I found this year that i only suffered from Prickly heat if i used cream as opposed to oil i dont have a problem then

I'm going to bear that information about the injection in mind for my next trip. Daughter and I do get prickly heat, although we did take antihistamines before we went this time, and it wasn't so bad. If it does get bad though, I will certainly consider going to the pharmacy and getting the injection.

Any idea if you can get the same injection at your gps in this country? I don't personally suffer from prickly heat but my Father in law does and he can get it bad, he's coming with us in August, any advice most appreciated.

I asked my doctor, she point blank refused and said steriod injections thins your bones NO. I am gutted however I may check the chemist out.

My husband has been having these injections for the past 5 years at the chemist near tansas no problems in fact if it wasnt for these being available we would not go abroad as the prickly heat makes him so poorly.It always seems to start on day 5 of our holidays so he goes off for the injection and within hours cured and prickly heat free for the rest of our holiday

Hi Icmelarians. Now i know this will sound wrong but, i cant take Antiistamine tablets or use the cream due to having Angina. I suffer terrible with Prickley heat and even tried sun-beds before we go to Icmeler.Well, according to the Dr he said it was the creams (Piz Buin etc) and, after sun creams that are the problem. He said any cream would block the pores up so, keep out of the sun!!! How can you do that in any hot country. Anyway this is where i am saying wrong but, it worked for me. I used NO creams at all but, lay in the sun for around 10mins, then pool for about 45mins and did that every day. I didnt burn and,,,,,,,,No prickly heat but please do it sensible. I never went out in the mid day sun but sat under the umbrellas and i had a lovely tan.When you wipe yourself down with your beach towel always go in the same direction and not up and down, that was something i was also told. PLEASE (sorry caps) dont do this if you are staying in the sun for too long. I only do this due to not being able to take tablets. Happy hols. Jem xxxxx

Hmm, that's not the one I was told it was. The one I was told was on the same side of the road as the Tansas, but in the opposite direction (more towards the market, if that makes sense).

What is the injection you had called? I suffer alot and have had a Jab that cured it while in Turkey. Couldn't read the writing to see that the injection was, but it worked. If you could give the name of it maybe I could have one from my GP before I go away this year. Many thanks in advance.

jem, I was told the same and my GP directed me towards Simple sun cream, it specifically DOESNT block the pores and I've never looked back since starting to use it 6 years ago
You can get it in Boots or online - and better still, you only need the smallest amount cos it goes for miles
