Fuel Surcharge Letter

Postby john G » 08 Jul 2008 12:48

Hi All,
Just had a bit of a shock, got a fuel surcharge letter this morning from the company we booked our holiday with. For a party of 9 they wanted over £260 for fuel surcharges even though we had a zero balance because the holiday was all paid for - we thought.

Was about to ring up and pay, as we still want to go to Icmeler, then I thought of looking at their terms and conditions. Apparently, holiday companies cannot increase or add surcharges within 30 days of departing.

Rang them up and they have agreed to cancel the surcharge. :D

If you do get this letter, check to see if their Terms & Conditions allow for this and if it's within 30 day of your holiday.

Cheers John - now looking forward to a few extra effes with my fuel surcharge money

Hi, It goes on the date of the latest invoice or surcharge letter. Best go on their website or even ring up your agents and ask them what their terms and conditions are.

Cheers John

Scottravel's website states that "no charges will be implemented within 30 days of departure" so you should be fairly safe there. If they try their luck, point that out to them.
