Onur Air 2008 Flights

we'll be Onur virgins this August and am bracing myself for delays - we don't expect top notch service at the bargain bucket prices we've paid

I would say that there is one other particular air line which i wont mention has had a worse reputuation this year than onur air they had flight delays up to 17 hours.

As said before i had a brilliant flight there and back with onur air and have booked twice to go with them next year

I've also travelled a lot, and have had the "no speaky english " from "English companies" during delays, as in, no explanation or apologies for hours!. It's not good, but taking the risks of all airlines having problems, percentage wise, onur air have been no wose than any airline I've travelled with for similar or even more expensive prices. Maybe I've been lucky but havn't had a problem with them so far. I understand that a bad experience can put us off a particular airline, but I bet everybody has a horror story about each and every one of them. I'm sticking with the most valuable I can find each time I go, which is Onur air for my visit in September, Manos (Thomas cook) in July, havn't had a problem with either so far. So fingers crossed Hope I havn't tempted fate now

Thanks for all your responses, has put my mind at rest a little, with regards to Onur delays, I have been checking our flight the last few Fridays and it has landed and departed on time, so fingers crossed it will carry on that way - 4 weeks on Friday - cant wait, but unfortunately not going to Icmeler this year.

Just speaking as I found it. I'm sure your flight will be fine. Your also correct in saying that other airlines have worse reputations.

After all, it was Friday 13th we were travelling. What was I expecting?!

just returned from marmaris , flew with Onur ,,, the flights were fine , clean , well run aircraft , leg room was good too ,,,,,, the staff going out were a bit dour but on the return they were chatty and helpful ,
No entertainment on the plane so take a i-pod or DS ,,,, the prices on the plane for snacks are expensive , my wife paid £1.80 for a small packet of nuts , buy some snacks at the airport when you get through sercurity, on your return you can buy liquids and snacks in your resort and you can take these through sercurity in Turkey.
Our flights from and to east midlands were about 40 minutes late both ways , i can live with that .
i'm a nervous flyer as well but we have booked again for next year and i would'nt do that if i had any reservations about Onur .

I would like anyone's points of view who has flown with Onur Air this year, I have been following a thread on HT and to say the least some people are less than impressed over recent years. I am due to fly with them in July after booking the mega cheap flights last year, but am now wondering if I did the right thing, I am a very nervous flyer and the reviews have done nothing to calm my fears.

Used May 08 this year. Going out delayed one hour and at the boarding gate they checked you through and advised everyone - 'As we are late when you are called to board, just sit anywhere' As you can imagine, one state off total anarchy. Hence, lots of people didn't get to sit with their families etc. Ironic thing was, the aircraft wasn't full anywhere. Coming back no problem at all. Couple of points, no entertainment and flight out had no aircon so it was like a suana (night flight), flight back had aircon at the front and most people had coats or sweaters on, no aircon in the middle or rear so it was a sauna again. Aircraft are all older, mainly Luthansa purchases. Both our flights the legroom if you are tall is tight. Drinks and food are expensive on board. Hope it helps.

Why am i a nervous flyer ,, good question ,,,, don't know , never had a bad experience ,, its all in the mind i suppose ,,, mind starts working overtime , thinking all silly things ,, hearing every sound or creak the plane makes ,,, found this time when i started to feel a bit nervy i got the DS out and it took my mind off it and the time passed quicker ,,,, sat next to a lovely lady called Karen from Broxtowe , nottingham who was a nurse and offered to old my hand if i needed it , don't think the wife would have been amused though , it would never stop me going abroad but its not my favourite part of the holiday ,,,, i do'nt get sweats or panic attacks , its just a nervy thing that i've always had ......

Andy I am the same, although I do get sweats and panic attacks over it, I hate flying with a passion, but it doesn't stop me going either, when it does that, then we have given in to our fear, and fear only excists in our minds.

I live on Rescue Remedy before I go and at the airport, if anyone is aat Manchester Airport when I am there, you will see me a mile off, shaking, stressing, flapping and bright red face from it all.

Back to Onur Air, I flew with them last year, they were ok, nothing exciting, I am flying with them next year as well.

No thanks, have my body disassembled into billions of bits, sent via air waves and reassembled at the other end, I would rather sit in a cigar shaped tube and travel at 500mph.

A pilot now on average has one engine failure every 25 years, I've been flying on average once a week for the last 14 years and besides a bit of rough turbulence I have ony had two occassions where I can say I was really frightened.

We go in 3 weeks and was just wondering what food they sell/do on Onur air now. Last year we had a meal (well a snack) but this year when we booked were advised they had stopped doing meals. Do they sell sandwiches, snacks etc. We fly back at 7.30 pm so will leave our apartments about 2.00pm. As you know the prices at Dalaman are exortionate so we will be taking rolls withe us but I have a feeling we will be peckish by the time we get back to East Midlands at around 10.00 pm. Di.

Ann had a chicken sandwich with salad when we went with Onur Air in May.
When it came it was an egg and lettuce cob (true)

Once in departures, i nip into boots and get a meal deal £3.49. drinks, sarni , and a bag of crisps to take on board. For those smokers among you, i buy my cigs on plane, cheaper than duty free at airport.

Terry, thats fine to do in the UK airport, we normally have a Macdonalds or burger king, depending where we are flying from but was a bit worried about the kids being hungry at Dalaman as things are sooooo expensive. Di.

Merhaba Diane, for the return journey nice fresh loaf of bread from the bakery behind tansas, cut in half and filled with cheese and salad, or cut meats. bottle of water for the transfer and a drink to have at airport.
Unlike uk airports food and drink can be taken through.

Just what we planned Terry. That bread is so fresh, the first year we went my youngest, then about 10 said they look like feet so thats what we have called them eversince. My boys tell me that there is a Mcdonalds on the way back from the airport so at worst it looks like calling in there if we are peckish. Thanks for all the info. Di. 19 days and counting down.
