Just booked up for Icmeler

Postby Lorr » 29 Jun 2008 19:05

Hi everyone, just joined this forum after booking up for Icmeler in August, from everything Iv read on the Internet and on this forum I cant wait, it seems that theres so much to do, I just hope that the 10 nights we have booked for is going to be long enough!
After researching Trip advisor we decided to book to stay at the Miray hotel, has anyone stayed here recently? if so can you tell me what you thought of it please?
We're also really keen on doing some tours whilst there, definetely fancy visiting Pamukkale and Ephesus, oh and also a trip to Rhodes, I was wondering if anyone can recommend the cheapest way or website to book these tours, any help would be much appreciated

Thanks :D

Stayed at the Miray twice.
Was renovated a few years ago.It is a clean hotel and the staff are lovely.Pool is of a good size but very cold and looses the sun around 3/4ish in the afternoon but it's not far from the beach. It's a central location and has some good bars around it.
Only bad thing is if your unlucky to get a room were the balcony faces into the hotel so you have no air coming in from outside.
Never ate the breakfast even though paid for it but it's a typical continental breakfast what is served in the resturant downstairs.

There is a few picture's on here if you haven't seen any yet.

Have a great time! :D

Ephesus and Rhodes

Postby helen2904 » 29 Jun 2008 20:18

Welcome to the forum. I only joined this week, so I am also a novice. I have been going to Icmeler since 1995, and am still not tired of it, in fact it gets worse cos you just want to go back for more.

I had not done the Ephesus trip until last year as my husband and I thought it might be boring for the children, so we waited until last year as it was the first time without the kids. Well what an experience, it was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere there was electric (must warn you to take plenty of water and a hat as it gets really really really hot midday) This trip is well worth the money. It includes a stop for breakfast on the way (you need to pay for this as extra), entrance fee into Ephesus, a visit to the Virgin Mary house, a visit to a ceramic factory and a meal at lunchtime.

We also did the Rhodes trip last year and that was a disaster. I feel I must warn you beforehand. (I wish somebody would have warned us last year). We left the harbour in Marmaris for Rhodes and about twenty minutes into the crossing everybody started being sick (it was a nightmare!) However, we got to Rhodes feeling quite sick and only wanting to sit down and drink water. Eventually we found a rooftop restaurant and something light to eat, this was very poor quality but by then we were really hungry. We walked around the old town, which was beautiful and decided that we would go for a drink just before going back to catch the Hydrofoil in the harbour. Then disaster struck, my husband and his mate asked for a large beer (having been used to ordering large been in Icmeler) and myself and my friend were asked if we would like to have a fresh fruit juice 'fish bowl' - we thought that would be really nice and refreshing as it was very very hot. Well, my God our order arrived. I have never seen anything like it in my life, the boys had a pair of glass wellingtons each filled with lager (and I mean exactly the same size as proper wellingtons) and the 'fish bowl' arrived - it was twice the size of a normal 'fish bowl'. It was vile, the colour was disgusting, God knows what they had put in it, and the lager according to the boys was flat, hot and horrible. However, we decided to leave and asked for the bill and this is when we had the shock of a lifetime. The bill came to a staggering £40. We had been conned right left and centre. So please beware when visiting Rhodes. This is not a trip we would do in a hurry again. We had to laugh about it when the photos arrived though.

We shall be descending on Icmeler for four weeks from the 1st August. Hope you have a lovely time.

hiya the miray has been done up lovely but the nicest part is the staff who are all so friendly breakfast is the traditional turkish breakfast which is served at blondies, but they also do a fantastic english breakfast for only a couple of pound. the entertainment in blondies is great and all the food is lovely, i never tasted anything horrible when i was there and i ate there every night. Turkish nite at Blondies is not to be missed, the selection of turkish food is fab with great entertainment. really hope you enjoy it, im sure you will, we've only been back 2 weeks and we've booked again today to go back on friday night so the hotel cant be that bad  4 sleeps and counting

Hi I am going to Icmeler for the first time on Friday and am staying at the Miray. I chose it mainly for the central location and the fact it has a mini fridge even though is B&B which many don't. I will report back with my thoughts when I get home (boo). I can't wait now i'm so excited... only 3 sleeps to go!!! :P
