Tony, you know me so well already, I was gonna splurge all that money on you at the airport, but if you won't delay your holiday by two days then the deal is off. Then again its a long way to Glasgow Airport for you eh. I'll just have to share it with my OH now, but its never an even share cos he drinks beer like water!

Not that much in my pig, because used it for the airport when I went to benidorm in April, had about 60 quid.

Did I offer a beer???? Not sure I did, but I'm not a mean Scots woman, so if I do meet you in Icmeler will be happy to buy you a beer Tony.

Jackie saves £2 50p 20p 10p the 5's 2's and 1's get saved for the kids. but now my oldest is working she doesn't want to come with us oldies. so the copper now belongs to the young 'un. Think I'll count it later and see if theres enough to buy his old man a beer or few!!!

Tin opening

01 Jun 2008 14:57

Hi all :)

I have a tin that just has £2 coins in.
Counted it just before christimas, and had £800 :D
Can't wait to open it again a few weeks before hols, as we superglued the lid so we couldn't check
Also have a big jar with 20p 10p 5p & coppers for airport money.

Happy holidays, Cheers Dodge :D

My lad got £47 in copper. That might buy me a sarnie and a couple of pints in Manchster airport.

neither am i.she says it spoils the cut of my trousers.

I save the same way and am also trying to save for some building work, so doing car boot sales as well.

The £1 coins might help the holiday funds though as well and they wouldnt have to go to the coin eating machine at the supermarket.

I have been following the thread about the tin opening ceremony. Can't believe how easy you make it sound saving money. I am hopeless at saving.
BUT
Today I have been and bought myself a tin (the tin opener kind). My first £2 coin is safely locked away. :D.

All the family have laughed at me and said after my next £2 I'll be getting the tin opener out.

I'll show em

Can anybody please tell me where to get these tins....sound like a good way to save.

Bought mine at a car boot.
This is the only place I have seen them

The tin opening ceremony

22 Jun 2008 22:44

I love this thread, Polly well done, because I'm a bit like you, I pinch change from our "open and far too easily accesible bowl" of loose change savings for my car park at work. oh wonders why its always empty, I need to buy an indestructable tin like you have  it's amazing how much everybody has saved this way, well done everyone.wish I was as disciplined, but I'm inspired by Jemini's jewellry plan, brilliant idea to save and then be able to enjoy buying lovely jewellry. Thats it Jemini, I'm going to do that from now on, and buy a good strong tin.
