Does anyone know?

Postby sanjo » 15 Jun 2008 17:52

Once I have checked my bags in at the airport in this country we normaly go back outside of the airport for coffee and smokes and dont go through to departures until we really have to.
Can you tell me if we can do the same thing at Dalaman as I hate being stuck in the airport for hours especially now that you cant even have a cig? :x

Also were not having a flight meal this time (I think its horrible) so are we allowed to take some rolls or sandwiches in our hand luggage?

many thanks

I dont thınk you wıll be allowed back out. Dalaman ıs a mılıtary aırport so they probably are not keen on people wanderıng around. If I remember correctly I thınk there ıs a smokıng room ınsıde the aırport.

As for food, you can take whatever you lıke

Hi Sanjo

You can go back outside at Dalaman, but when you go back in you have to go through the security check again.
When we came home, they were really keen at the security check. About 1 in every 3 people were having their hand luggage searched.
I had an open packet of crisps, and they even tipped them into a tray. Needless to say, when they gave me them back they went straight in the bin.

Sanjo.Once you have been through security and checked your cases in,DON'T go through passport control. You can go back downstairs and out through arrivals and sit outside at the coffee shop where you would've originally picked up your transfer coach. There you can sit and have a smoke and coffee or beer and relax. All you have to do is go back in and go through security again. We had a 5 hour delay coming home.I think i would've been climbing the walls if i'd been stuck in the departure area.Hope this helps. :D :D

Hi Sanjo,
As stated you can go back out for smokes etc, we choose to go into the cip lounge in the air port whare you are aloud to smoke, ok it is £16 per head but once inside you have food and drink ( none alcoholic ) aplenty, it was said that thay were charging £10 for a coffee and burger in the airport food halls. Also you have comfy seats the internet and tv.
We think we got our moneys worth as we were delayed 8 1/2 hours. you are limited to three hours but you can come out and go back in again, we came out after 2 hour and went to the depature gate and were told after 2 hours we were further delayed so we went back in for one more hour.

Dalaman airport is now non smoking, which we did not realise until we had went through passport control. When we realised that we were delayed we went back to passport control and the police man let us back out for a cig. He kept our passports with him and told us to come back and collect them. Could you imagine that happening here. We thanked him very much, and thought only in Turkey. However, there was nobody about and do not think this would happen if it was busy. As for food and water we had no problem taking them through.

we went to have a look at the cip lounge but it was not worth going in as checkin is only 2 hours and by the time we got through we only had an hour to spare, we asked if there was anywhere to smoke and were told if we paid 11 lira we could go in for a smoke so i did not bother in the end

Yes found it. It was 29th May and it's in the post
Smoking Ban in Turkey.

Otherwise I would have booked in just for that as we both smoke.

last year when the smoking room was open we had a quick one with 5 mins to spare as it took 1 hour 30 mins to get checked in only 2 desks open
as soon as we got on the plane the doors closed and we where off I not sure how id cope with delays but a patch helps take the edge off

thanks Tinks/Marg

I can cope with being forewarned - its when I think i can smoke only to find I cant after getting in that it hits me!! phsychological I suppose?
anyway, thinking of investing in those plastic nicorette cigs to cover the unforeseen like delays, so thanks again for the head up
