Ours was delayed for 19 hours with Thomas Cook. The reason given was a technical fault. Although it was a Thomas Cook holiday, the flight was a Thomsons plane.
When we did eventually board the plane the captain came out and spoke to us all, telling us that part of the planes computer was saying that the plane was not flying, even though he was in the air. He said he could not fly the plane like this, and had to circle for 2 and a half hours before landing back at Cardiff, as he couldn't land with a full tank of fuel. The fault had been fixed but he requested another plane, so we could all rest assured! (Very nice, thanks)
When we arrived back at Cardiff leaflets were being handed out to everyone who wanted to claim through their Insurance. This stated that 'The Aircraft due to operate your flight developed a technical problem delaying initial departure from Cardiff, once airborne the aircraft had to return back to Cardiff for further rectification. As a result the operating crew exceeded their legally permitted working hours and had to take minimum rest before they could operate your flight the following day'.
