Exactly they don;t know what theyre missing.
They are just happy to go to spain, and be ripped off in restraunts and bars, and have rude waiters who really couldn't care.
Give me turkey any day, where the waiters will do anything to make sure you enjoy your night with them. They really make you feel like you are their friends.

me too Steve, they don't know what they're missing.
like someone said earlier, i'd rather spend my money in Turkey than Spain
courtesy and good manners cost nothing and like we know, you'd go a long way to beat Turkey
was pleasantly surprised in Corfu last year, very similar in as much as they went out of their way to make sure we had a great time - and it was a pleasure for them

You have also got remember how many tourist resorts there are in Turkey and every one has there own preference,I was talking to a couple the other day and I mentioned we were going to Icmeler, they had been but much prefered Olu Deniz,we went to Altinkum last year and it was nice there, but we have been to loads of nice places like I said it is all down to preferences.

Sometimes it's like no one reads the news on here
There have been some major economic upheavals that are affecting many people, there is not that much money about, which is bound to affect holidays and holidays abroad in particular, it appears that many people are taking holidays at home, because the cost of air travel has gone up so much

It is a worry that perhaps the resort is starting to out price itself. Whilst there last year we had a conversation with a lady who worked in a local estate agents and she had commented that every year the resort was getting quieter mainly due to the Brits looking to travel elsewhere i.e. Bulgaria where there money is going further, also there is a lot more Al inclusive accommodation than in previous years and this was hurting the Bars and restaurants.

Give me
icmeler anytime than a holiday in this country, personaly I think the money you save on things like accomodaation, food and drink ,makes up for the little extra you'd shell out on airfare, still making turkey cheaper than this country to holiday in than the UK.

its funny when people ask you were you going and you say turkey some pull a face or i dont fancy that men are perves dont know were they get that one from me and my daughter went to

been talking to a travel agent friend. seems mexico is top of the list now and goa. flights too expensive now and turkey not as cheap as what it used to be ie they now advertise english breakfast for 2 pounds but make up the cost by charging a lot for orange juice or fanta. incidently i can get a nice ulster fry just down the road where i live cooked to perfection for 2 20!! including tea. Turkish government has put rents up which means businesses have to put their prices up. In May restaurant owners were protesting against this and the
transfer time is now a big put off. it seems people would rather have a 30 minute transfer from alicante in spain than a transfer to
icmeler by coach which can now take up to 3 hours or more depending on traffic
11 Jun 2008 14:27
everything goes up every year wherever you go im going back in august and i just booked my flights for next august ,with
icmeler people cant do enough for you the weather hot food lovely ,and taxi from airport takes 1 hour 15 mins.my friend in icmeler reckons it be busy july, aug, sept.

And then when they arrive in bendirom they are maet by tower blocks. I was in benidorm in april, it was OK but nothing special, it was no where as near as cheap as Icmeler, there was no where decent to go out and have a meal, and the spanis people in shops have an attitude of I can't be bothered and can take or leave your business.

yes steve the spanish do have an atitude, however recently ive come across this also in icmeler, mainly on canal and in market. i go over several times a year because ive a place out there so i will still continue to go there, however most of my family dont want the 4 and a half journey anyone via plane followed by another possible 2 hour journey and my travel agent friend backs this up. it seems british people would rather pay for the tower blocks and tacky chip shops of benidorm and a cheap easyjet flight to alicante, maybe not so cheap anymore because of fuel prices but psychologically people see a cheap flight advertised and dont think about the extras now added on. Incidently most of the budget priced airlines will be charging 6 pounds for check in and it wont be long before others follow unfortunately

I personally wouldn't give you a thank you for Spain. From my experience, they just want to rip you off for everything and can be very rude. Sorry but I dont think Spain has any attractions.....for me anyway, although I am sure some will disagree.
Rant over
11 Jun 2008 21:59
Sorry but I have never come across the attitude mentioned on here in Spain only in Portugal everywhere else we have been I have found the people quite nice Turkey,Bulgaria and
Greece you do get something a bit special, but you also come across something that does spoil it and that is the bouncers on the toilet doors who you have to pay to enter this is something that should be stopped it is degrading in this day and age.
