Was going to post a new topic on wine but might as well tag along on this one. I remember wine being expensive last time we went to Icmeler,(06) even the more expensive stuff in the Tansas wasnt brilliant. I was thinking of taking our own this time. Whats the best way? Are you allowed to take any in hand luggage? I did wonder if its a good idea to buy that wine you can get in plastic bottles and wrap it up well and put in the suitcase and pray it doesnt break! :shock:even better i suppose you could buy a box and keep it in the fridge in the apartment! I think Ive just answered my own question!!

My sister took two boxes of wine last year , without any problem.

You just need to think of the weight as the boxes do weight quite a bit.Taking up your allowance for the hold as you can't take them in your hand luggage due to the restrictions.

You may have a problem as they are in a foil bag and the scanners won't be able to penetrate the bag so will look suspicious.

Got to give it a go, anyway if they open up the case they will see what it is. Reminds me of years ago when i went to corfu. i had a case that was so stuffed full I couldnt close it, after hubby struggling with it for half an hour we eventually got the zip done up. In the case was a big box full of tablets, paracetamol, anti sickness, you name it we had it in the box. Well after we checked in it must of gome through a scanner and looked suspicious because when we got to Corfu and picked up our cases, ours was on the conveyer belt with the zip undone  they must of checked it and not been able to do it up again

Hi all,

We take a box of wine with us for the room, of our favourite tipple. We take it out of the box and wrap it in a plastic bag in case it bursts (hasn't yet) and flat pack the box to save room.

If you want win when you are out you will have to bite the bullet with the prices, unfortunately.

All the best,

Archie

Hi Annie
why not stock up in UK duty free - you'll be able to take it on board
and save room in your case for all the essentials like bacon and H*** beans
