no one buying in Turkey

i have just been told by a reliable source of mine that as of tomorrow no foreigners are allowed to buy a property in Turkey. I can imagine that alot of people wll be very disappointed as they were looking to buy this year.

I'm forever getting e-mails from a company asking me to buy property over there, I registered on my interest in a property on their website and they keep sending me e-mails about their new developments, so I can't see them wasting there time if I was forbidden to buy over there.
The only requirement for foreigners buying in Turkey that I was aware of they set up a company name, but normally your solicitor over there will do all that for you. It's amazing what you learn from Amanda Lamb.

Some parts of turkey are an absolute bargain. Altinkum is very cheap prices starting from 17,000GBP in some of the new developments.

I have never been to Altinkum either, and for the price of apartments in Icmeler it makes you wonder if its worth buying. Its those darned flight prices that are the killer.

Yeah they are a killer this year, just hope they wont be this high every year, mine weren't to bad because got them early but look at them now and there extortiante.
Yeah you can get some good prices of apartments in icmeler, we looked at one last year, it was 39,000 2 bedroomed was nice, a turkish familly used to live in it but were moving to Istanbul.

I couldnt book my flights early for this year due to OH work, so I have been stung a little. Only paid £88 for last years flights.
I haven't really looked at prices in Turkey for buying, for some reason I thought there would be many complications in buying there. Well maybe not for buying, but is there not a lot of work to be done regarding living there, visas etc?

Thats the problem with work there you don't see alot of brits working in icmeler, and I spoke to a woman at our hotel last year she was british and when she told how much she got for doing 12 hour days it was terrible.
I would love to live there if didn;t have to work though.

Maybe the lottery will come up this weekend and we can purchase a property then.
I just think that if we lived there, the magic and excitement might not last. Its different to go for 2 or 3 holidays a year to Icmeler, but would that same excitement grip you if you lived there? I doubt it, but saying that, I would be willing to risk it

I don't think that I am in a position to buy but after watching 'Holiday Homes from Hell' I would be very wary even if I was.
Although there were no properties in Turkey, people had bought property in Cyprus, Spain, Greece etc and many had structural defaults and the builders are doing nothing to rectify these faults.
Also a couple of families had their homes literally demolished and they were not just holiday homes ,they lived there permanently and thought they had gone into the whole thing with good legal advice etc and had been living there about 5 years.
It was heartbreaking for these people, very sad.

I seen that one last week, where the home had to be demolished because the land was protected. That poor man collapsed and was very ill. It was heartbreaking to watch the family and friends having to quickly empty the property of all the furniture as the bulldozers were there ready and waiting.
It definitely makes you wary about buying abroad when you dont know the ins and outs of the law.

It does Mary ,but if I won the lottery I would take a chance & buy. I wouldn't want to live there all the time cos I do love England for all its miserable weather and I would miss it.
I'd probably spend alternate months in Icmeler then home and so on...

Last year we had a family Holiday but needed a 5 bedroom Villa as there was 12 of us the only place we could get one in the right location was Altinkum it was absolutely georgeous and we learnt that the whole development was going to be Villas and the starting price was about 40/45 thousand pounds and a 5 bedroom one with a pool were around £75000 hows that for temptation.

I have seen some very cheap property on new developments in altunkum, some for as little as £17,000 for a one bedroom, bout £23,000 for 2 bed. But as Admin said if it's cheap it could be crap.
I also would be warey as never been to the area so would have to go get a feel for the place first.

The only problem is from what I have heard most new buildings are,the Villa we rented belonged to a guy from Huyton the posh area it had a few problems but nothing drastic.
