hi i was talking to someone who stayed in icmeler last year she was telling me to try the cinar restaurant said food is lovely but the place as amazing has anyone been were about is it lynn

I have just been looking on the photo gallery and elkie has posted some great pics of cinar. It looks very relaxed and chilled out .

Ive not been there yet myself, but its definitely on the "todo" list for this year

Cinar Restaurant is lovely, and a must try while in Icmeler.

It's actually about a 20 minute drive out of Marmaris, heading towards Gokova (can't remember the name of the village but I'm sure Rami would be able to help with that!)

It's very popular with locals and gets very busy in high season, so if you're intending on an evening meal it's advisable to book.

It's a large place, all seated outside under numerous trees, with ponds all around with fish in (not eating variety!), there are chickens, ducks and cats wanding around the tables. The food is superb and the fish is excellent (the best I've had). Service is excellent.

It really is worth the effort - even if you just go for a drink or a snack It's one of my favourites. If my friend picks me up at Dalaman we always stop at Cinar on the way to Icmeler.

If getting there poses a problem, if I remember correctly on a previous discussion about Cinar I think admin said something about organsing a weekly visit for anyone interested.

Hope you've managed to take a look at the photos I posted on the gallery-you really should try to get there. We have never had a problem getting there as our friends who stay in Marmaris always sort out some transport, we go in a minibus, but I think Icmeler online do an evening excursion which would be well worth considering.

I dont know the name of the village but its just before Cetibeli. Cinar used to be fabulous. Last year, we visited the place while working on ideas of off the beaten track type of excursions which we offer exclusively. When we visited this place last year, we found that it has gotten over popular where service was lacking and it was surrounded with so many wasps. I think its setting is excellent would still go there I guess but we do not. My family has also stopped using this place and that is when we discovered the Azmakbasi (Riverside restaurant). This one is in a similar type setting past the Cinar, another 1km up the road by the river. Its smaller so service is better and since its smaller, its still kept less commercial and thus more turkish which is exactly how cinar used to be. This should not put you off from visiting Cinar, still worth a visit and if you dont like it, move up the road and try Azmakbasi..or some of the other ones on the same road like halil's place. All of these places are known by the locals and will be completely full on sunday mornings in winter or summer time.

Such a shame to hear standards have gone down at Cinar, but thanks for the other suggestions, I've made a note so will have to try one or two of them when I'm over in May.

Rami we used to pass a sign just before Cinar and the place name was Camilkoy and years ago you used to make pronounce it every time we passed to see if I forgot.

I used to really enjoy a run out to Cinar just to kick back and relax for either breakfast or dinner but it started to leave a bit of a sour taste in my throat when I saw the amount of UK football shirts that were sitting around.

It is ok Turkish people taking some of their friends out to see the place but it just bugs me when I see people wearing their "colours" in any country.

As Rami said we have now moved on from there as the throng have not yet hit some of the places we now go to.
