We've been going to Icmeler since 2002 and never seen a roach but to be honest we've not been looking for them.

We have had ants in the room once and they were sorted out in less than an hour by the staff at the apartments and we didn't see anymore for the rest of the holiday.

Only ever seen one and that was in the toilet of a restaurant. Got to admit though haven't felt inclined to eat there again. Spain was crawling with them when we went years ago before we discovered Icmeler. :) :)

Have never seen any cockroaches in 6 years of going to Icmeler but OMG last year there was the mother of spiders in our bathroom. It was striped and the biggest spider I've ever seen. If there had been a webcam running in the bathroom I'm sure I would have been on one of those candid camera shows, ran out the bathroom with my knickers at my ankles shouting to my other half 'you'll have to get it', went right out onto the balcony and shut the door. My other half usually lifts spiders and puts them outside, but not this one cos might have been poisonous, however he got his flipflop and gave it a couple of whacks and that was the end of that. Now every time I want to use the bathroom in our hotel, he has to do what I call 'spider watch'. Sad I know but I'm terrified.

Its just a clicking sound coming mainly from the palm trees most people think it is grasshoppers or crickets but when we were in Marmaris a number of years ago one of the restaurant owners heard us talking about the crickets and he put us straight.

I wouldn't worry about it you hear them but never see them that is why you see the men going around spraying the trees.

The sound that you hear from the trees do not come from Cockroaches.

The insect is commonly know as the August beetle and when they are there they are noisy and when they are gone they are actually missed.

One of things I like walking into town is the noise coming from the trees and undergrowth, I would actually miss the noise if it wasn't there whether it be hoppers, roaches or beetles, it's part of the holiday listening to the sounds.
