Lira

Postby salford_steve » 02 Mar 2008 20:15

Hi Guys

I'm a newbie to this site.

Does anyone know if the lira will probably go up by june. We are going for 2 weeks in june. we were in icmeler twice last year and it we were getting 2.56 from marks and spencers, but seems to be very low at the mo.

Any ideas

Thanks

Hi, salford-s. If anyone knew how currencies are going to vary they'd be a multi-millionaire :D At a guess I'd say they'd be about the same as now ( barring anything terrible happening). The lira has been very stable over the last couple of years so I don't see any marked change in the future. :)

The £ against the Lira dropped like a stone over the Christmas period, last Friday it recovered to early December levels, so far today on the eastern markets its recovered another 0.75% currently trading at 2.445. I watch it on a daily basis on http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/fds/ ... _month.stm

This is great news
Mind you, we usually find that you get a better exchange rate in Icmeler than you do at home
We're not going until August, so plenty of time for it to get better !!

The New Lira is at 2.50YTL to the £. as of today
So like John says its on the up.
So that makes beer at 3.50YTL equivilent to £1.40 a pint
Cocktails at 7YTL = £2.80.
Chicken meals at 16YTL = £6.40
steak meal at 21YTL = £8.40
That will do for me.

Lunchtime drinks, 5 pints for me =£7.00
Coke For Ann =£1.40
8 pints a night for me = £11.20
1 Coctail for Ann = £2.80

So thats £22.40 a day on drink x 14 days = £313.60

If we have a sandwich in the apartment I think I can get away with only taking £400 for two weeks, thats with a couple of trips and a few pressies.

Gene btw by the way is the biggest minge bag in Icmeler  but only for Ann but then if she has more than 2 cokes then the romantic bit comes out and then Gene has to run

What Gene is not telling you because you will all (the people that don't know) ask where we go in the afternoon and get a pint for less than a quid and that is a state secret.
