How do they remember your names

Postby honeybee » 15 Nov 2007 19:56

Reading about the Turkish people remembering your names - how on earth do they do it.

Our first year, we were asked our names as we walked past Dreamboys and we didn't go there the next year but the year after, Denis shouted us over and remember our names - amazing

They must have thousands if not hundreds of thousands people walking past whose name they ask

It certainly makes you feel more welcome anyway

Staying in Marmaris (prior to discovering Icmeler) one year, one of the waiters in the restaurant under our apartments did the usual thing and introduced himself and asked our names. We ate there a few times as you do to support your own host. Two years later when we holidayed in Icmeler for the first time we thought it would be nice if we went over to Marmaris to eat at this restaurant one night.

Over we went on the dolmus and made our way to the restaurant. We walked into the restaurant and the same waiter came straight over to us grinning all over his face saying nice to see you again.

Better half went to the loo after the meal whilst I waited for another drink. The waiter came over and said to me winking "same lady, different man" at the top of his voice.

Embarassed or what! Took some explaining to the adjacent tables I can tell you.

I can't remember who I met last week never mind a couple of years later.

I think it's nice how the waiters remember your name. We still have contact with ZaZa from Alvaro, we haven't been to icmeler since June and he still texts us. I think its great.

Not yet, but we've looked at many of the places are quite expensive in the summer hols. We're going in the summer holidays this time because I've started my GCSE courses and my mum and dad don't really want to take me out of school :( :(.

I would give anything to go to Icmeler one more time!

It really amazes me how they remember you.

We were in icmeler for our second time a couple of years ago and getting towards the end of the night, mrs magoo was in desperate need to visit the loo(too much efes) and on passing the Lighthouse restaurant I suggested we pop in and she could use the toilet and we'd have a last drink before heading back to our apartments. So, while mrs magoo was otherwise engaged, the waiter came over and welcomed me back to icmeler. I thanked him but told him we hadn't been in this restaurant before. He then told me we had been in just for a drink one night the previous september. well, I thought, we were in icmeler at that time but not in this particular place, but no, he was adamant we had been in for a short time and that he had taken our photo and pointed to what table we had been sitting at. Just then, mrs magoo appeared and said we'd been in there before because she remembered the lovely toilets (it's a woman thing).

He introduced himself as king soloman and the following night we went in for a meal and he knew everyones name who was in the place. I asked him how he did it and he just pointed to his head and said that he didn't have a brain in there but a computer. what a really nice fella he is and the food was outstanding too. I think he's moved on from the lighthouse now but his memory was really amazing.

By the way, when we got home we were looking at some old holiday snaps, and what do you know, there was a photo of the two of us sitting at the table king soloman said we'd been at. We must only have been in for a few minutes that night, probably for mrs magoo to empty her bladder again but yet he remembered all those details.....a computer indeed.

He then proceded to tell me which table we had sat on and what we ate and also what drinks I had
