Zogs Holiday

Postby Zog » 21 Oct 2007 11:09

Well, thats our 21 days in paradise over and we're back to the harsh realities of life, work, cold, and Xmas just around the corner.
Anyway, here's my humble attempt at our holiday review.
Flights were with Onur Air and were on time both ways with no problems apart from the way passengers are treat like cattle at Newcastle airport. Just WHAT is that all about ?
Stayed at the Demircioglu apartments. The apartments are central and well placed for all the facilities. They have TV, hairdryer, fridge, kettle, toaster, and basic cooking facilities. Air con is available at £21 a week which I personally think is a bit excessive. Nice pool area and brilliant staff. Thanks to Vince, Kenet, and Yusef for a fabulous time. The restaurant has a good menu and the food is fine.
Of course the highlight for us was our daughters wedding to Aziz which took place at the Harmony bar and was a lovely evening rounded off with the Stella show which is hilarious and well worth seeing. Thanks Michael.
We had some fabulous food and would highly recommend the Waterfall, Vinces, the Majestic, the Peking, and Richards place. Worst meals by far were at the Baron, (never again) and suprisingly at the Dream boys on the canal.
Didn't do any trips as we have done them in the past although the son and his wife had a great time on the jeep safari.
Arrival day was fabulous as we took our first walk around and received waves, hugs, and kisses from all of our old friends.
We also made new friends particularly Donna and Tudor ( big folk with bigger hearts) and Dave, Wendy, Molly and Luke, really nice people, it's a priveledge to know you all. Great also to meet Collette, Di (dimrie) and ICR angel Sharon, thanks for everything Shaz. Apologies to anyone I missed out.
Highlights, among others were watching John doing the Superman dance at Donnas birthday (what WERE you doing with that video camera john ?), me and Shaz belting out our version of living next door to Alice (Toohey ? who the bleeps John Toohey) and Donna sticking her face into that birthday cake, Coffee and cakes at Cafe Ann, to die for. Walking back to the aparts at night in warm air heavily perfumed with the scent of flowers, seeing our good friend Veysel off home after a hard season.
I've read a lot of complaints on other forums about prices and attitude. I have to say we didn't experience any bad attitude and the prices were fine to me, £1 a pint available all over and I still say you could never eat as well anywhere for the price.
Gene, I missed you again mate, maybe next year eh ?
I think a perfect way to sum up this review is this, on our first day Nancy looked at me and said, "isn't it great to be home" on the last day we had to go through that heart wrenching experience of driving over that mountain and leaving our beloved Icmeler behind.
Thats what Icmeler means to us, home from home and the memories of this wonderful place with it's fabulous people will help us through the long cold winter until we return in the new year. Thanks Icmeler for another fabulous holiday and the few of you who still have to go, I hope you have as brilliant a time as we did.

Zog it was great meeting you again and also better as this time I met nancy also.

The wedding night was a great night and we all enjoyed it.

Donnas birthday was a mad night that brought old friends together and new friends met.

Remember that man called Tudor who walked everywhere with a walking stick and that night he was throwing a dutch woman all over the dance floor and the stick was nowhere to be seen

The video of the evening will be added to the rest of the Icmeler video I will be starting to edit very soon

Frame ??? you need to put it in fort Knox mate. Finding a 10 lira note that I have given away is harder than finding an unknown Da Vinci.
Be worth a fortune in a few years. Tell you what, send it back and I'll sign it for you. :P
