Holiday Review

Postby neags » 04 Sep 2007 20:45

I would first like to say a big thank you to everyone who has posted advice etc on this site. My family and I came back from Icmeler last week and we had THE best holiday ever. It was our first time in Icmeler, second time in Turkey, and we are going to book up for next year in the next few weeks.

Our holiday review, where to start!

We saw Freddie Mercury at Wonderboys, smoked a pipe and chilled at the Chill Bar, ate a T-Bone steak at Dreamboys, sang Karaoke at Densil Kapisi, danced on the bar at the Liberty Bar, watched the Stella Show at Harmony, got wet on the Jeep Safari, didn't see any turtles at Turtle Beach, went scuba diving, hired a boat to go fishing, I waved at the webcam and laughed when I saw the old green car in the square.

All of these places and trips have been mentioned at some stage on this forum so it was on your advice that we did these things, and as I said, we had THE best holiday ever, so again, thank you all.
I could tell you about our Hotel and how wonderful it was, but in all honesty, we could have slept in a tent on the beach and we still would have had a great time!

My MOST memorable bits................watching the sunrise and going for an early morning swim on the first day of my holiday, the ice-cream seller at the end of the canal who kept shouting "no more jokes" and who had us laughing so much we went back every night for the last 5 days of our holiday, our whole party of four adults and 8 kids swimming in the sea at 2 o'clock in the morning and the view of Icmeler from the top of the mountains as we drove back from the Jeep Safari.

My family and I went on holiday with my sister and brother-in-law and their three kids, and they have fallen in love with Icmeler as we have, and will be coming back next year with us. Hope your holidays were as memorable as ours, and hope to see some of you next year.

Thanks again.

What an excellent summary - I love the way you put that paragraph together. I'm so pleased you had a great holiday - I've been to other parts of Turkey but Icmeler is different isn't it? Now you've experienced Icmeler you'll be able to share your knowledge when others ask.

Juneflo - Yes Icmeler is very different and very special. My family and I went to Marmaris last year for 2 weeks and had friends who were in Icmeler at the same time. We went and met up with them and ended up spending more time there than Marmaris !!.

Bazza - There aren't any illegal substances in those pipes if thats what your thinking LOL !!!. It's flavoured tobacco. We tried watermelon and apple and both were very enjoyable. The good thing about the pipes is the tobacco doesn't burn like it does in cigarettes, the smoke from the white hot coals on top of the pipe is drawn through the tobacco and then through the water at the bottom of the pipe, so you don't get any of the chemicals that goes with smoking ciggies.

Redrhino - Would go back tomorrow if we could !!!. Gonna have to wait till next year though I'm afraid. The good thing is it gives us all the incentive to get up in the morning and go to work, and makes the year go quicker knowing that we will be back in Icmeler in August.

Hi Jane,

You did say we would love it, so thankyou to you and Andy especially, for introducing us to Icmeler last year.

It was a shame we didn't meet up as much as we'd hoped, what with your family's ailments and mine and Viks upset tummys we couldn't quite get it together could we !!!. I did text you on the night of the Havanna meet to find out where it was, but you were obviously enjoying yourself too much to reply !!!!. LOL.

Not to sure of the dates just yet, but will try and overlap with yours for a week at least.

Speak soon

Dean

PS. It's no good asking Vik to send you the pictures, she's only just mastered the remote for the TV !!!!. I'll send them to you.
