My Holiday... by Baz!

Postby Bazza » 29 Aug 2007 20:57

Been back since Saturday (25th), posted some photo's in the gallery and a couple in the "Green Car" thread.

As we got off the plane on the 10th the warmth was very welcoming (the queue's at the visa point weren't though  ). After our transfer to Icmeler we finally got ourselves settled, had breakfast and headed for the pool.. Wonderful!! From then on it was relaxation all the way, more pool, beach, food and drink in abundance.
The hassle was much less this year which I thought was much better, if it could be stopped completely it would be a big plus for Icmeler. The Black Sea restaraunt bloke was a bit pushy, on the pavement at any opportunity grabbing people as they went by (funny how he dropped back into the background when the police went past though).
The set meal offers in the Artemis and Mandalin proved to be VERY good value for money - a 5 course steak meal for 8 quid, or a 5 course chicken for about £6.50. Also we ate in the Taj Mahal, not so cheap but beautiful food and well worth the 2 visits we made.
We bumped into several friends from last years visit.. it's amazing how they remember faces when so many people pass through during the season.
We only went on one boat trip this year.. the lazy days trip. A really good day out it was too. We were supposed to leave at 10.00 but due to tangled anchors we never got underway until 11.00, it didn't spoil it though. Stopping at those little bays and having a swim in the clear blue waters was wonderful, the sea was lovely and cool in the sweltering sun, everyone really enjoyed the swims. Lunch was served on board then more swimming stops followed by a short look round Turunc before heading back to Icmeler.
The sand on the beach felt exceptionally hot this year, it was amusing watching people skipping from shade to shade in an attempt to reach the sea before roasting their feet  Wasn't quite as amusing when it was my turn though :D
It was nice to see our daughter again as she's been there since easter working in Friends. It went a bit pear shaped for her though as after we'd arrived (despite the 9 weeks notice she gave and them agreeing to let her have a couple of hours off a day to see us) Gino decided to change his mind as he had to do a bit of work and sacked her for no apparent reason (not quite the smiley bloke that he likes to try to put across), shame really because we'd planned to eat and drink there most nights.. never mind, their loss!!

I gave the webcam a wave on several occassions, don't suppose anyone saw me though :) It was more of a gloat really
My lovely fortnight already seems like a dim and distant memory, tan is fading fast and all I've got now are memories and photos...... Until next year!!!

Excellent Review Baz! Shame about your daughter though... Is she still out there now then? Has she found another job? I suppose it is their loss more than anything-I am sure they have lost quite a bit of money!! Pleased you enjoyed yourself though :D

That's terrible about your daughter? Is she still over there? With the season nearing it's end, it might be harder for her to get another job! i hope she manages though!
Other than that, great review!!

She's still there, we've not spoken to her since we've been back but she's adamant she'll get another job.

Hi Juju.
It is VERY close to us
Kirsty has to come home now, she can't find another job so late in the season, she's gutted as she was really happy out there. It's a shame.
Perhaps if we hadn't gone out there she'd still be at Friends..
Anyway, we had a really nice holiday, but at a cost.. her job!!

Excellent report Bazza.
We to used the Artemis a couple of times and found the meals very good.
Our room faced the Black sea restaurent and we used to watch him manhandle people to try and get them into the restaurent, it is his type of approach that have brought in these new stiffer laws.

Hope to see you in Icmeler next year Bazza,in the mean time as you say we rely now on our pictures and memories.
