Lemon Balm/oil and bits of info please

Postby Gill1452 » 30 Aug 2007 10:31

Hiya,

A few questions for anyone who can answer them please.

Can someone tell me where to buy the lemon balm and mozzie plug ins for keeping mozzies away?
Also where the best place is to change money?
How much Duty Free (spirits) can we bring home and where to get them?

Cheers

Gill

I found the Lemon Balm in most of the wee newsagent type shops over there in spray form. As for plugins, buy them before you go over! :)

From memory someone has been saying the best place to change money in Icmeler is the Newsagent under the ICR offices, next to the Chill Bar (?).

Duty free is the usual for non-EU countries. And I think from memory its best to buy at the Airport but could be wrong!

you can buy the lemon spray almost everywhere you go. I got my from Elvis supermarket just across from 3bells but they sell it all along the canal too.

I also saw a mozzie plug-in at Tanzaz - can;t remember exactly how much but it wasn't expensive at all.

I think this is a picture of the supermarket you are talking about. I have to agree they give a good rate while i was there last week Most places were offering 250 and they gave me a rate of 265 YTL

Well after changing £200 into YTL at an exhange rate of 2.3 to the £ at Thomas Cook, I think its safe to say you are best to change your money in resort!

I'll be visiting that wee shop every couple of days I think!

Hiya

I have only changed a little into Turkish-due to the rubbish rate we've got here...however yesterday Tesco was giving 2.6 to the £ which is the best i've seen here!
I am taking mostly pound to get changed when i'm there.

i got told my an old turkish man, that the lemon spray would not work against mozzies. Its more of a just a refreshing spray when you get too hot, and like an anticeptic when you have been bitten, is this right?

Hi there!
I just got back last tuesday, was my first trip to icmeler and loved it!!!
The wee supermarket in the pic above is definately the best place to get sterling or travellers cheques changed. Nice ppl in the shop, gives a better rate than most other change places, gives a better rate of exchange than most places in blighty too!! Can't recommend it highly enough!!!

As for the lemon spray, I took tea tree oil with us and mixed it into all the usual lotions and potions and that kept away most bugs! I have to admit I didnt see 1 mossie whilst we were in icmeler. Having said that we took one of those plug in bug repellent things for the hotel room... worked a treat! I did get a several little midge bites on the evening of my birthday on my legs. I bought some of the lemon spray as my turkish friends said it would help to stop the itching. It worked very well, and was quite refreshing too!

Hope that my wee ramble helps in some way!
