First Timers to Icmeler.

Arriving 17th, what should we expect to pay for restuarant meal.
Two adults, two children with drinks (plenty of!!)
Best places to go and eat with children?
Any recommendations welcome.

Hi Elaine,
Have a look in the guestbooks section - everyone has their preference but you'll get an idea of what places are like from the posts there. You could search the site for something like meal price and see what posts exist.

If you've got children, you'd probably find busier restaurants better as there's more for them to see and take part in. There's lots of recommendations for places like Dreamboys and Venice. I would recommend Prince Restaurant (under the Prince Apartments) -their Turkish BBQ night on Thursdays is brilliant. The entertainment there is good too - we saw acrobats, jugglers as well as the usual Michael jackson and street dancers.

Steak meal..........21YTL............= £8.00
Chicken Breast.....16YTL...........= £6.00
Efes..................... 4YTL............= £1.60
Large Coke...........4YTL............= £1.60
Coctails................7YTL............= £2.80
These are only a rough guide, you can get meals for between 5-10YTL
depending were you want to eat.
Beer you can get for a £1.00 a pint again depends were you want to drink.
The sea front and promenade area is as cheap as anywere to eat and drink and do not charge sky high prices for having a sea view.
I would reccomend the Erdem for a very cheap meal and loveley shaded sea views.

Got a good idea now just what a bit of a guide on costs with us being first timers to Icmeler.

On a lighter note elaine123 we work on a ratio of spends of 4 to 1 that means I allow £40 a day for beer and £10 a day for food.

This is achieved by not getting up till after midday that way I avoid having to buy and eat breakfast.
We take a large stock of cup a soups and oxo cubes with us from England so only have to buy the beautifull huge soft bread cobs, these cost about 25p each.
Another tip is drink your beer in the bars that have complimentary nuts crisps and other tasty tit bits on the table(you can send the kids to forage of the other tables).
Its surprising how full you can get by "Eating Out" this way.

For that extra special meal out go to the Champion bar and have a choice of either a hamburger or cheeseburger all served with fries and this will cost you 5YTL each x4 = 20YTL total £8.

So you see by being a little frugal your money can go a long way.

You may be thinking "but I like a bit of supper when I have finished drinking"
What I do after I have been drinking all night in a bar is just mention casually to the waiter that I will be going now as I want to call into the soup kitchen for my supper.
9 Times out of ten they will say "no dont go yet our cook will give you a sandwich on the house"
At that I promptly order more beer and everyone is satisfied.
Some may say "I could never do that"
But how many of you have had the complimentary coffee or ice cream and even liquore?
its just the same thing you see.

The most important thing is the beer money and never ever fritter that away on food.

My 12 year old daughter has been howling reading your comments!
Funnily enough, we have been to Asda today buying packet soups, how strange is that. My 7 year old son eats for England he will like the idea of complimentary crisps. Where is "Champions" ?

Unfortunately with two children, we can`t escape breakfast normally up and about early.

My other half has two weeks drinking to make up for when we arrive in Icmeler. He works off shore and only comes home Wednesday and we fly on Friday @ 6.30 from Manchester. Can`t drink off shore. I wouldn`t manage.........

If you go self catering you can keep costs down - then you can treat yourself to a some nice meals. Gene's ideas may work for adults but may not be so practical for kids - and it's the drinks, ice creams etc that add up.

There's a good fruit & veg seller just by the crossroads (by the green car) I get fruit and salad stuff there as I'm a vry light eater and like to pick through the day. You could go to the supermarket and stock up on nibbles and snacks but also things like beans which most kids love - make sure it's not things that'll tie you to the cooker though.

Some restaurants provide a starter and fruit plate free with a main course. Food is inexpensive and good value but when there's kids it's much more than 3 meals a day! You could probably save money by buying large bottles of pop or cordial and making smaller bottles up for the kids. If you have a full size fridge - you could buy ice creams or things like ice pops and keep them in the freezer. You might find it more cost effective to do your own packed lunch for days out or the beach - not every day but some - that would save money so you can treat yourselves.

My hubby will laugh when he sees your comments especially about being stuck at the cooker!!! I don`t do much of that at home, never mind on holiday! He`s more of a chef than me (ah ah)

We shall certainly go the Tansas and stock up on the first day. We do intend to eat at every night more or less. So many lovely restaurants for us to go to, it would be rude not to.

The children like most foods they are certainly not fusser eaters, thank goodness.
