clothes!

Postby Mulley » 10 Aug 2007 10:31

Hi everyone, this time next week, we will be on our way to London and then onto Icmeler Saturday afternoon. Just a small question - I know they sell the brand names e.g. Lacoste, Levis etc. in the markets but can anyone tell me if they are selling the latest clothes i.e. maxi dresses etc. long tops and leggins etc. Want to get some to wear but if they are selling them in Turkey then I will wait. Thanks. 8)

Hi Mulley,
I didn't see any maxi dresses, smock tops or leggings in the markets or cheap clothes shops. You would probably find these in the more expensive shops in Marmaris. I'd get them before you go with the price of Primark, matalan, good old George at Asda etc!

Hi Juneflo, thanks for that. Unforutnatley, living in Jersey, clothes tend to be really expensive and we haven't got anything like Matalan, Primark, Asda or even a New Look! - (I normally go to Liverpool once or twice a year and stock up on mine and the kiddies clothes but haven't had a chance to do so) have to check out EBay and quick!! thanks anyway.

that's a shame Mulley. have a look for online shopping or try a catalogue. Hope someone else gives you info too.

Most of the clothes i've seen in markets for women are vest tops, bikinis and some long skirts but they're not that chic in my opinion. a few evening tops but they tend to be emblazened for a designer name - not a small label but large if you get my drift. I did see one pair of leggings in a shop by the canal but they had goldigga in large gold letters up the side. Think there was also a dress with similar letters.

I have only bought 1 thing in the last 10years from Turkey for me - a white skirt and I found that hard to find. I was there in June and looked for a maxi dress for my daughter, only saw them in the expensive shops it was about £50. I suppose it depends on what we call expensive - I mean more than at home but then again if you're paying a lot in Jersey it might not be that expensive for you.

Hi and thanks for your replies. I would love to shop online with Matalan, George, New Look etc. but they don't deliver to the Channel Islands. Some shops do i.e. Woolies and Next but we've got them over here. They really have got the monopoly over here. There are a couple of nice shops but out of my price range especially as I've got two children! Contrary to its reputation, Jersey is not full of rich people with boats.
I'll give you an example you can't buy a loaf of bread for under £1 and a litre of milk is 96 pence!!! Hence the reason I stock up on stuff when I go back home either to Exeter or Liverpool.
Just popped into Dorothy Perkins at lunchtime and bought a couple of bits. Think the markets will be more for boyfriend with the Lacoste labels etc. thanks everyone for all your help.

Aww poor mulley!
Im In northern ireland and things arent much different here! Everyday items such as bread, milk, clothes (postage for items on ebay) are more expensive here than the mainland also.
However the silver lining to our expensive cloud is that whenever you do go on a shopping trip, or on hols, you have the perfect excuse for spending more money (your other half's money if possible) because then everything is cheaper than when you are at home, and therefore a bargain! It would be a sin to pass up a bargain! lol
I feel the pain in your pocket mulley!
