Regal holidays :(

Postby zel » 04 Aug 2007 20:26

I booked my holiday through regal holidays (before I was aware of ICR - of course!) problem is, I was meant to receive confirmation through within 24-48 hours which I didn't. I called them up last monday to enquire about it, and the lady I spoke to told me that everything had been booked up ok and that I should receive an email/confirmation by Wednesday.

Still haven't heard a thing :(

The thing is, when I phoned, the lady managed to confirm my booking without even so much as asking my ref number, and there has been no money taken from my bank account.
I am supposed to be leaving next Thursday (16th) but I can't even put in for time off work without any confirmation and I don't want to organise my insurance/ money etc in case I end up with no holiday to go on!

has anyone here had any problems like this? and if so what would you advise?

thanks
zel

Look for the ABTA number for the company. If you receive nothing I'd phone them for advice.

if no money is taken out of your account, then if you can, cancel it and book with ICR, for the least, you would have your confirmation letter with in 2 minutes :)

I would phone the bank tomorrow and ask if they could put a stop on the money coming out of the account from that company as it sounds a bit dodgy to me!! Then I would book through ICR and you will have no problem with them whatsoever :D

i used regal this year they were fine no probs with flight or transfer at all the rep doesnt visit you in hotel but there is contact details for them to book trips or emergency
trips are widely available from several sources including icr who offer very good value for money and better trips than some :P

Hi, thanks for all your replies

I've sent an email (for the second time!) and will hopefully hear back from them tomorrow as they are closed at the weekend. I should have my tickets 7 - 10 days before departure so, if I haven't heard anything by Thursday I'm going to have to cancel/block my account and then try to book up another holiday.

re: Denis, did they tell you everything had been booked ok? have they taken any money from you?

I find it really odd that they managed to tell me all was fine without even asking for my booking ref  but then again - she did manage to confirm how many people were in my party.
I'd like to believe that she was being honest - I mean, if it hadn't been ok when I phoned, they would have sorted it out over the phone surely?? but by having nothing in black & white and having paid no money it seems a little bit fishy

I also emailed first choice whose flights I'm supposedly booked on - and surprise surprise they have no record of it!

I'll keep you posted, and you let me know how you get on too Denis - good luck!

Update:

my tickets have just arrived!!! My confirmation/invoice arrived at the same time but was dated from last week - maybe something to do with the postal strike?

anyway, I'm now one happy bunny - icmeler here I come!!

hopefully you'll get yours through within the next few days too Denis - let us know.
