Has Icmeler changed a lot in the past 8 year

Postby Lrain » 18 Jul 2007 22:05

Hi

This is my first post on the forum after spending the last few months just reading. It has been 8 years since I last visited Icmeler, I return on the 19th August and can't wait to return. Has Icmeler changed much in the last 8 years I remember having the best ever holiday with who was then a new boyfriend and is now my husband, I can't wait to introduce our 5 year old daughter to the delights of Icmeler.

:D

I've only been going to Icmeler for 5 years. It hasn't changed much over that time though there has been some improvements made to the canal area. I don't have small children so didn't notice play areas much - but there's a couple of nice play areas in old village. The Park Metropole - which is now the Abacus has a new play area too - not sure if anyone can go but I expect it would be like the pools - as long as you buy a fanta!!

As far as bars, restaurants and the look/feel of Icmeler, I'll leave other more experienced people to update you on those.

Have a great holiday.

The road/pavements are alot better...was it just me or those kerbs were just massive!!
As mentioned the canal area and bridges are alot nicer now..hated getting my heels stuck in the wooden bridges -think you men must have had the same problems
Alot of new apartment blocks being built going into the old village.

There will be alot of changes that you will notice its just thinking of them all haha

I think Icmeler has got a bit more sophisticated in the last few years which has made it loose a bit of its old charm. :(

I preferred the canal the way it was before they changed it to look all the same. Rickety wooden bridges instead of the new conrete ones.

and I miss the apple pie man lovely jubbly

First year I ever went there was a bar on the beach just in front of the Elif (if memory serves me right) which was just a shack with a tarpaulin over I thought the place was great.

Aaaah memories

Things change they always do, as long as it still has what it takes it will do for me, a smaller resort without being too small and enough going on for families and those that like it less rowdy, I doubt if any Holiday resort remains unchanged from year to year 8)

Thanks everyone, it sounds like small bits have changed but the overall feel and atmosphere of icmeler remains. Only 4 weeks to go till I can experience it all myself

hiya

not long to go now for you

i first visited icmeler in 2001. i feel in love with it then and on returning almost every year since, i just love it more and more.

yes, the rickety bridges have been replaced by 'new build' and the roads and pavements are a lot better too.

this year i found that places that had been busy in previous years were quieter and the places i hadnt noticed before were booming! when i was there in june there were still some places having work carried out and in general it was quieter than other years, but i think at the minute it it quite busy again, so i am sure you will have an excellent time.

2 weeks from monday and i will be there myself! june this year and september.... i am so lucky!

alexia x

p.s. main thing is that the people are still the same and at the end of the day it's why we keep going back again!

as we have been lucky enough to visit icmeler two or three times per year, for the past fourteen years, the changes dont seem to be so dramatic, but if you have not been for eight years, you are sure to notice the difference,my own opinion is that most of the changes have been for the good, sometimes its a bit sad a bar you rearly like, changes hands, and is not the same anymore, thats life i guess,(quite like the new bridges, but didnt mind the old ones)
