That is so sad that you wont return! But to be fair if we all liked the same things what a boring world it would be!

I was in Lanzarote in April this year and whilst the sunshine was hot and I got a nice tan that was about it! Give me Icmeler anyday!

Wherever you decide to holiday next time hope you have a brill time and its sad that Icmeler didnt do it for you.

Well you sound like a right bundle of fun to be on holiday with .

How the hell can you compare Icmeler to Spain .

There is nowhere on the planet where you can get the same sort of service and genuine friendliness for the price you pay .

The Turks and Kurds that work along side each other in this resort cannot do enough for the holidaymaker and will pull out all the stops to make sure that you get the best out of your holiday.

you dont get that in Spain .

Thats why we all keep coming back here year after year .

Thankfully and indeed hopefully you wont return .

Dont get me wrong I am all for constructive criticism but you sound like one of those people who just love to moan about anything .

At the end of the day each to his own and .......enjoy Spain and leave
Icmeler to the people who see it for what it is .............. PARADISE

As others on here I was shocked at the review...
However ... I am pleased that not everybody loves the little piece of heaven on earth that I have found .. Icmeler... or there would be no room for all of us who love the place.
After going to Turkey .. Icmeler.. I never want to holiday in Europe again.. some people like the european way and want all places to be like it. Not me. :!:
I love so much about Icmeler and the way everyone is treated that I wont even begin to start as I am sure you all know and dont need m to tell you.
6 more sleeps till I am back there again...and I just cant wait 8) 8)

I too am a little surprised by the review, YES everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I think they are definately in the minority. I was wary of going to Turkey the first time, not really knowing what to expect, I had made the decision and my children definately didnt want to go. The first time we went we too fell in love with the place instantly - my daughter cried all the way home!!.

We have also been to Spain, Portugal, Greece etc, and enjoyed them (Except Portugal) but now we have been to Turkey, it puts them all in the shade and I for one think the hospitality is what makes it. I do believe most are very genuine - but none of us are under any illusions, they are all doing their job, but they do it in a way that makes you feel very welcome and like you are returning "home". We have been to Icmeler three times now, and last year we did feel that maybe we had exhausted it and are ready for a change. So, this year we are straying from Icmeler and visiting Hisaronu. I have read up on other forums and it seems that regular visitors to Hisaronu feel exactly the same way as regular visitors to Icmeler, so I am sure we are in for a good holiday.

I too agree with others about Spain and the like, no one is particularly friendly and where we were - there was no "entertainment" in bars and restuarants - all being hotel based. OK, the entertainment is repetitive, and once you have seen one you have mainly seen them all, but its good fun and the kids enjoy it - it just livens up you evening a little.

I think its a real shame that lisanige felt they way they did, but each to their own, maybe they dont like such warnmess from strangers.

Yorkshire Rose you have just reminded me and made me chuckle reading your post there.

I remember the 1st time my Mum told me we were going to Turkey, i was like no way am i going there, i thought she was crazy, that was way back in 1993, the first 2 days i hated it,then suddenly my opinion changed, and i fell in love with the place and the people. I was so upset coming home and i actually returned to the same resort( Altinkum) for the next 6 years, this year wil be my 10th or 11th visit to Turkey,1st time in Icmler.

the impression I get from this post is that lisanige choose a destination to visit then set about systematically bisecting said resort,I for one certainly find better things to do with my time like ENJOYING myself I can only say that since we discovered Icmeler in 2004 we would not contemplate visiting Spain for our main holiday,so to conclude I  know everyone has a right to their own opinion but I think this one is over the top

Well we are all agreed, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but how Turkey can be compared to Spain is beyond me. I for one will miss Icmeler this year, but am excited to meet new "friends" and see new scenery, Icmeler is in my heart too, but time for pastures new.

I love honesty, say it how it is, thats what I say, I have also visited a few countries in my 60 years as well as living in South Africa for 9 years, some good holidays some not so good, and now and again a really great one. I have never stayed in Icmeler only Marmaris but that was a great holiday, it is my brother in law who has been to Icmeler more times than I can remember who has convinced me to go, and I must say that I am not that hard to please so I am counting the days to September. If the Icmeler experience is half as good as the Marmaris one then I will have a great holiday. I might just add that the 2 worst holidays that I have had in the last 10 years were in Newquay and Torquay both lovely places with great scenery but overpriced, with yobos hanging around every pub, meals getting thrown at you typical English style and if you don't like your steak burnt don't come back again attitude. But some people go back to those places year in year out, thats their perogative, not me not ever again. So as they say one mans meat is another mans poisen, so we will agree to disagree. Nice to read your opinions and look forward to reading more of your posts.

Have a nice day

Speechless (for a change  ) i to have travelled to other parts of the world including various places in Spain and all i can say is "Icmeler is a place where we can all spend our time with people who have the upmost respect for all ages. It is spotless do you see litter scattered everywhere? certainley not! i can walk the bay at 7a.m alone and feel safe, i tried a walk at that time in Tenerife and returned to the hotel within 10minutes!!!! the Spanish were rude and ignorant in fact the guy on the reception told my friend" i am not paid to smile!!!"

The Turkish and Kurdish are the most amazing people, for a culture who work extremely long hours to make us feel welcome they except nothing in return. This will be my 4th trip to Icmeler in June in the last 2 years and i can honestly say i can't imagine spending my time anywhere else.

Looking forward to seeing old friends and in meeting new ones Role on 6 sleeps :D

Hi,

Well I was very surprised reading your review, but appreciate your honest feelings.

I have travelled well over Spain, Portugal, Greece and USA. On one of my visits to Kos about 5 years ago, I had a day trip to Bodrum and absolutely hated the place after about 10 minutes mainly because of the hassle. I never intended to go anywhere near Turkey ever again in my life.

However, me and my OH had planned to go on holiday (somewhere) last September 06, but when it came to July 06 we needed a break for a week, so accepted a cheapie deal to Marmaris for one week only. We were very apprehensive, but needed some sunshine so decided to go.

I dont think I had been in Marmaris for 2 hours by the time that I actually started thinking how much I loved the place and the people. We had a couple of dolmus trips to Icmeler during the week and I found it extremely friendly and clean, just a smaller version of Marmaris really.

On our last night in Marmaris, my OH was ill, and couldnt go out for dinner. I felt so safe in Marmaris I went to dinner on my own to a local restaurant that we had frequented a few times during the course of the week. I felt very comfortable walking on my own (got no hassle lol) and the waiters all made sure I had company during my meal, all coming over regularly to sit and chat a minute or two even though they were extremely busy. I dont think I would have felt as relaxed going out for a meal on my own anywhere in the UK!!

Anyway, we got home and booked straight away to go back Sept 06 but for 2 weeks this time. Again, we had a fantastic time with a few visits to Icmeler once again.

I have just returned 5 weeks ago, but hey, felt so homesick for Marmaris / Icmeler I am heading out there again tomorrow for another cheaper week. Cant wait.

We have become very good friends with the hotel owner and a few of his mad staff that we keep in touch with them. Lovely genuine warm friendly folk.

During the course of my 3 trips to Marmaris I have started to pick up a little Turkish and the Turks seem to love you communicating in their own language.

I also learned to speak Spanish during my many trips to Spain, but that was never appreciated by the Spanish in the way the Turks love to have a banter with me in Turkish.

I hope you manage to find somewhere else to enjoy your holidays and perhaps somewhere else in Turkey would suit you better. Happy future holidays.

Ben geliyorum Marmaris'e.

Wow, 1 more sleep and I am home again on Turkish soil. Cant wait. Get the efes chilling please all bar owners!

i have been visiting icemeler now since 2002 , not once a year but several like many other people , and never have i heard as much xxxx in my life , everyone i have met ,spoke to including me love icemeler and dont go back just once but several times , there is a saying when in rome do as the romans do , ,, i think people forget your are in turkey and not in a resort in the carrabeian , know doubt you didnt pay expensive money for your hols , and everyone will agree icemeler is extremely good value for money , i bet you have never been made as wecome in as many bars and restaruants , you have ever been in any place in the world , , for food every type of dish you can imagine is available in the resort , and presentation 100%,, as for the entertainment i sugest you never had a wonder about the resort whre you can find loud , liveley ,, chilled ,,out relaxing , quite bars everywhere if you look , but i suppose everyone has different taste ,, and entitled to there opinion but i sugest if you did a survey 99:5 % of people would give it the big thumbs up ,

just thought id add my little blog of Icmeler too. First of all ive never been to a more friendly place ever ive been to Ibizia and hated it they ignored you no friendly atmosphere and they didnt even remember your name the next day never mind the next year !!!! As for the beaches charging, you should have gone to the Harmony beach fab staff free beaches and you dont even have to lift a foot off the bed they come to you with food and drinks. They also have the best show in Icmeler " Stella Show" which might i also add is the origional show, the one in Marmaris is a copy and a bad one at that as ive seen them both. I have 3 teenagers and i feel quite comfortable letting them wander around freely as i know they will be looked after anywhere.Never had a dirty hotel and stayed in 6 different ones, no bad meals very little bad service and everything i have bought has lasted shoes especially for years. Folk at work are bored with me ranting on about it but it wont stop me cos it is like home from home and hopefuly one day i will own one there that is my dream !!!!!! best go and put the lottery on lol who knows i cold be there this time next week if i won !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wasnt really the best idea in the world to put a bad review of Icmeler on a forum dedicated to Icmeler, where the vast majority of members love Icmeler :?
The review would have been better put on a general review site.
I must admit i have no appeal for the Spanish Costas and the likes and Icmeler is my 2-3 weeks of heaven a year.

I too, am very shocked at your review, but I appreciate your honesty and everyone's entitled to their opinions.

It could be that your experience at The Alinda clouded your judgement on the rest of Icmeler. Perhaps you should have done at bit more homework before visiting that particular Hotel as there are a lot of similar reviews about the place. Having said that a friend of mine is going there on Monday on a last minute deal that she couldn't turn down. She is of the opinion that as long as it's clean (and by all accounts it is), and there is a bed to sleep in, she will just use it as a base - maybe you should have done the same. Anywhere in Icmeler is better than nowhere in Icmeler.

As for the rest of your comments - you are not describing the Icmeler we have all took to our hearts. We are very protective of this little peice of paradise and don't take kindly to critisism's of it.

On reflection, it is probably for the best that you don't want to go to Icmeler again. Reading between the lines of your review, it would appear that you are the type of person whose "cup is always half empty instead of half full". Try Blackpool, there's plenty of entertainment there that would be more to your liking perhaps - the drag shows are top class

Norman

You were not censored just deleted.

I have the magic wand as in if I dont like what I see then I delete.

Lets just say I did not like what I saw.

Everyone has their point abd also their say on here and if it is not liked then there is no need to attack

Anyway all sorted and I hope the original writer of this post does come back and is not scared away by people that disagree "in their own way"

I think you should give Icmeler another try but stay in some apartments because maybe being in a hotel you didnt like made the holiday bad for but maybe i am wrong and you just really didnt enjoy it.
Thank you for sharing your opinions about Icmeler though.
