Big up Icmeler

Postby Sami » 23 Jun 2007 11:30

Just wanted to tell everyone out there who has been to Icmeler or is thinking of going, what a wonderful place it is.

This year I stayed at the Rhodes Apartments in the old village. They are nice and clean, and they have one of the best pools in the area. Did get hassled by 'Tango' the owners son quite a bit, I met him last year and have stayed in contact, maybe he thought he was in there - but NO!

One of the best restaurants in the town, more towards the old village is Rainbow Restuarant, owned by some friends of mine so I am a little biased but I am telling you, service is second to none, staff are excellent to chat with and its reasonably priced. (They have a great kids play area which is monitored by CCTV so you can have your meal and know that the kids are playing safely) obviously they have a kids menu but the adult menu us extensive and has loads of traditional dishes on there too.

Another really good restaurant is Gunay, primarily a steak house, its not overcrowded and staff are also brilliant, they have a garden area too which is nice for chilling after your meal. For the guys, they do have the sport on SKY so you can watch whilst eating. Again, great food and they also serve the local Turkish bread, (I call puffy bread) its acually called 'lavash'. Its cooked quite like Naan, but it puffs up and is served with garlic butter and some dips, yummy start to the meal. Ask for Okan, he such a nice guy.

There are so many bars to choose from, its hard to mention them all. But some that are my favourites are Friends, Majestic Boys, Villa Kontes (down by the canal), the bar next to Liberty Hotel at the end of the beach is fantastic during the day, meet Sammy, he is ace.
The old famous, Hob Nobs is great fun too. Say hi to Tolga who works in there, he is my friends boyfriend.
Make sure and book a boat trip, and book through this web site or at least the office when you get there. Its the best thing to do. Four swim stops, fantastic photo opportunities and cheap. I paid £15, and we could drink all we liked, plus lunch was included which was really nice.

John - I hope your reading this coz I'm biggin you up too mate.

John from Icmeler Online took a group of us on a boat trip this year. The weather was cloudy and the sea a bit choppy but we drank loads and had a laugh on board. We stopped in Turunc, which is lovely and I'd not been there before, though thought the staff at the bar which we stopped at were very miserable, they should have been more grateful for the custom. Coming back into Icmeler around 3.30 which was a bit earlier than expected, we ended up going to another bar called Havana, owned by ZaZa. It was a nice end to the trip, thanks John, next time - NO HANGOVER!!!

Nightlife is a bit limited in Icmeler, depending on what you want. The bars are lively enough, serve cocktails with a smile and will entertain you. BUT, they do stop the music at 12.00 midnight under the new law. So, in the town you have 'Pleasures' nightclub, music is pretty good, sometimes gets a bit techno and heavy. Drinks are not too badly priced. You then have Eastenders bar, music better, smaller environment, drinks are ok too. For the real nightlife, head to Marmaris. Especially Back Street, The Greenhouse and Areena. They are all excellent.

Well, I think I have babbled enough. I should be a bloody rep! John - Got any jobs mate????????????????????????????????

A good read Sami and in depth report of your holiday.
We also like the look of the Rhodes Apartments and like you say the pool is huge.
