Hello everybody.

Hi all. I put my hands up and admit to never having heard of Icmeler until a friend recommended it a couple of months ago. I booked a two week holiday (sadly not through ICR) and I arrive on Monday 11th. Until I stumbled across this forum I was looking forward to a break, no more, but now, having read everyones comments I am really quite excited as you all make sound so perfect. (OOH ONLY 3 SLEEPS AWAY) Is it really so idyllic????

Hi hillbilly welcome to the forum, I'm sure you will love Icmeler as there is no place like it anywhere, how long are you going for and where are you staying

Once you go there on holiday you will be hocked.

There is no other holiday that comes close.

Enjoy.

Flying out of Manchester at 07.10 Monday so I guess thats really only 1.5 sleeps from now. Staying at the Pinewood Appts which I gather are a bit off the beaten track but close to the market if that makes sense. Some of the tours advertised hear look excellent value for money so I will certainly be looking for the office when I arrive. I was thinking about taking a couple of days out of Icmeler to go to Istanbul but it looks quite an arduous journey by bus or train. Has anyone done this?

Hillbilly you'll love Icmeler!

As for going to Istanbul for a few days, you're better going for a separte break really. It's about a 14 hour bus trip from Icmeler/Marmaris (as you say quite ardous!), you would be better to fly from Dalaman to Istanbul Ataturk airport, it think the price is approximately £70 each way (could be cheaper though).

Istanbul a fabulous city, I'd recommend you go, I spent a week there one February and would love to go back again, a week just wasn't long enough! You can get really reasonably priced flights out of Heathrow and I think one of the low-cost airlines fly from Luton to Istanbul regularly.

Don't drink it all, keep some Efes back for us. We arrive at the Pinewood a week Monday 18th.
See you there.

Well, having had our first visit to Icmeler ruined by an accident and me spending most of the holiday in hospital in Marmaris I'm trying again. I had planned to go early Sept. but I dont think I'll be walking well enough then so its looking like October earliest. I know the resort closes down at the end of October but can anyone tell me if most places will be open and what weather we can expect at the beginning of the month.
Cheers

1st morning, out of bed 7am full of anticipation. Stepped out of the bathroom and slipped. Went down like a sack of spuds, and ....agony.
Absolute 10/10 for the emergency services. Doctor arrived within 10 minutes of phone call, ambulance another 10minutes. Arrived at hospital and was wheeled straight into examination room. Xrayed & CT scanned immediately. I had fractured a vertabrae. The treatment was superb. I was just so thankful that we had a good insurance policy.
Anyway, the little we were able to see of Icmeler made us want to see more, so hoping to make it back in October.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I agree with the service - we had to go to hospital last year and had a similar excellent service. I also know what it's like to have an accident on holiday - I broke the small bones in my foot (the footballer's injury) on my 1st night in Rhodes - I won't be going back there after my experience of their hospital though.

Hope you get sorted for another trip. I always use flipflops in the shower and for getting out - pack an extra pair.
