Hi all you Icmeler fanatics. We are relative newcomers this year will only be our 6th visit to Heaven on Earth. We have 2 cats brother & sister Rosie & Jim &really miss them we go away even though our youngest is still at home to look after them. We couldnt put them in a Cattery. Does anyones Pets seem to know your leaving them when the suitcases turn up in the spare room & their mood seems to change. Jan & Denis

My dog goes very quiet when she sees the cases out. Now and again she goes sitting in one of them think she is trying to tell me something

Arrrr i hate leaving the dogs...my mum has red setter and i've just recently got an American Akita,he's only 3months. But My mum and dad went to Icmeler this morning and the dogs seem really quiet today...my brother is going to be staying in our house when i go on Wednesday so at least they'll have someone here, saves putting them in kennels. He hasa shar pei too,so will be like a dogs home here haha

We have a westie and he always knows when we are going away. My eldest daughter looks after him for me or my in-laws. I would hate to leave him in kennels. Really miss him when we go away but hey when Icmeler calls you just have to go...We do make it up to him and take him to the seaside in this country for his holidays :D

Our cat Alfie goes into the cattery. This time it will be for 3 weeks too. I feel dreadful that we have to do it, he does get stressed out, and he sometimes starts to pull his fur out :( The cattery is run by a vet and is sooooo good with him, he spends a lot of time with him and gives him little toys! Our rabbit will go to my mums, but she cant let him out to run about like we do every day. BUT, we do need our holidays so its the only way. So yes I do feel bad about it.

We have a cat and his name is Maïlo, he's 8 years old, its a blue British Shorthair and he never goes outside. My husband an I go twice a year to Içmeler (June and September) our "Paradise on Earth", but our heart breaks every time we make the suitcases and have to leave him, although its just for 1 week!! I cant miss him any longer!!! He seems to understand that we will leaving him..
Also take a lot of pics of him with me. One for near my bed, on my mobile, camera...... and I call every day to the baby-sitters. There are 3 familys who are looking after him. The day they will stop to take care for him, we stay at home, because our cat is just like our baby. We dont have children and he really is like a child for us. I cant image that we put him in a cattery. Its the best for cats that they can stay in there own surroundings.
Its just for one week and pets dont have any idea of time....I find comfort in this....

I have 2 springer spaniels Maggie and Max and a cat Bella Bella I adore all of them and feel a bit mean putting them in kennels but I worry that if I left them with someone they may run into road of something dogs not very sensible (typical springers) so feel better that they in a safe place I vetted loads of places before putting them in at first and the dogs are in together and the nice lady always lets my cat go near a window so she can see out and spot the dogs occasionally. I also have two horses Lucy and Snoopy who take a bit more organising for holidays luckily I have a great friend at the stable who will see to them for me and I do the same for her, I have to make sure I have enough feed and hay etc for them before I go. I take piccies of all my pets with me on holiday and miss them like mad.

Found out today that my little westie - Buster - has got to go to Cambridge to have an operation on his spine next week..June 5th. We go to Icmeler on 21st June so hoping and praying he gets better really quickly or I will feel really guilty leaving him. My eldest daughter will be here with him but he will miss his mommy...awwwww bless :(

We leave our cat at home and the girl next door very kindly looks after him ( and the house ).
I don't know about anyone else but we always get the silent treatment off our cat when we come back, he takes a couple of days to get frendly again, his way of punishing us for going away and leaving him i suppose.

Yes I hate leaving my dog an Irish Setter called Mr Berkeley lucky for me , my parents live in Eastbourne not too far from me and he stays with them. Unfortunately they also have a dog, a miniature dacshund who has small dog syndrome , Monty he really thinks he is rottweiller and has got so much attitude. The dogs do get on well but they do look really funny together when they are out for a walk.

Our dog refuses to speak to any of us when she sees the suitcases being brought down. Even when we come home, you'd think she would be all over the top of us, but nope! It takes her a good week before she'll speak to us again! :)
