Little Train in Icmeler

Postby Norman » 22 Jul 2005 02:34

Has anyone that has come back recently got an update as to how far the new pier on the beach at the Deniz Kapesi end is coming along and also is the little train running again?

Pier and Little Train

Postby Huyton Woolyback » 24 Jul 2005 18:51

Hi Norman,

Got back from Icmeler on Friday. The Pier is currently just the supporting columns in the water. Building work is forbidden in Icmeler during the holiday season so I don't think there will be much change to that until at least next year, depending on the severity of the winter over there.

The Little Train is still running very regularly with it's annoying Synthisised Train sounds.

They are currently in the midst of the hottest summer there for 150 years so high factor sun creams are advisable for the early days of your holiday.

If you enjoy it half as much as we did, you will have a great holiday.

Thanks for the reply, have been to Turkey a number of times and in particular 4 times to Icmeler. My son & Daughter and 2 grandchildren are also there at the moment. We will be back there again in June 2006. Going to Cyprus In September which we have also visited a number of times.

They were working on the jetty while we were there in August, I feel it will spoil that end of the beach, bringing oil and rubbish in.

I think it will make the beach dirty, and what about the poor swimmers, why spoil things??

Years ago soembody told me this would happen, and they weren't Turkish. They predicted a marina and the Golmar, Marbas, Harmony and even Deniz would become a 5 star resort - it will be interesting to see what will happen.

Hi Mop,
Could be true because the Harmony and Deniz are already charging 5 star prices.

Does that mean Gene that Deniz Kapesi might start treating some people like 5 star customers and not throw them off the beach for nothing?
