Relaxed pubs

Postby smc4761 » 17 Apr 2007 20:25

My better half and I are off back for our 3 rd visit to Icmeler in just over 4 weeks
What I am looking for is a pub where there are no dancing waiters, just some background music, or even a live act. We have previously enjoyed the Chill bar as this is relaxed and the music not too loud.

Anyone have any places they can recommend and the location. We will be in the old village but usually walk into the centre most evenings

Thanks

Try the Secret Garden Stewart. If you go up past the Lighthouse and turn right and follow the road (its like a little back street) it is round there on the left. Its lovely in there and nice and relaxing. We love it in there and always have our last drink or 2 (or even 3) in there.

You could always drop into the Old Famous and see what they have to offer as this year there are a lot of changes there

Carol, I think you mean the Magic Garden - I love it there too, it's so relaxing, you'd never believe you were drinking in the centre of resort!

Another of my favourites is the Cafe Del Mar which is at the end of the bay - walking on the beach path past the Laguna Hotel with all the big palm trees - keep going up a small slope (past the public loos) and you'll come to it. Lovely and peaceful, soft music, with fantastic views over Icmeler bay.

And the Erdem Cafe down on the beachfront is also very nice - great for lunchtime snacks, but also nice for a quiet drink of an evening (drinks are slightly cheaper there too)

Funny isn't it - we always lunch at the Erdem too, guaranteed plenty of shade, they quite often don't even bother to ask us what we want to drink these days - just bring it

Hope the lottery man's there this year.... "Hoooooow Muuuuch!"
Have you seen or heard him? makes me laugh every time I hear him, he walks through the Erdem quite often at lunchtime!

Never been in the Erdem before but pass it most days. We tend to go for lunch in the Cafe Anne which is next door, which is excellent as well, great food , great prices and as always with Icmeler great staff. A lot of Germans/ Dutch also go in there at lunchtime. Its always busy no need for the staff to hassle you to go in

Thanks for the other suggestions people are there any more

Thanks

The most relaxed pub we found was Robin Hood on the Old Village Road.
We were never hassled there either.
Fess was also a really good place to go to also.

Jules

The Erdem cafe is down on the beachfront next to the big Aqua Hotel (at the bottom of the canal turn right and it's a 4/5 minute stroll).

The Meyzen RESTAURANT is also nice for a relaxed drink, it has live music and NO dancing waiters, but very polite staff and a very tranquil mood, inside or outside.
Its on the way to the old village, Walk past the Babadan and keep going, cant think of how else to describe its location, but its worth a visit.

Cafe Rose is one of my faves.

Miami

Sun restaurant

In fact, stick to anywhere in the old village area if you want to meet the locals and expats for a beer and a chinwag!

Where are your family staying, Stewart?
