is it safe, arggghhhh

Postby mansy » 03 Jun 2016 19:36

arggghhhhh, I get so mad at times. Yet another person, a neighbour who may i add has never set foot out of Britain, asking me where we are going for our holiday. Turkey again was my reply. then came the "is it safe, you are braver than me, doesn't it worry you getting on a plane". i swear if one more person asks me the same thing i will lose it and teeth will be lost.
Roll on Tuesday. :?

I lost count of the times people said things like that to me - and the vast majority of them have no idea about Turkey, the size of the country, location of the holiday resorts etc. We're just back from Bitez, near Bodrum, and felt totally safe the whole time. Security has definitely been stepped up at the airports and they are doing more body searches, swabbing of electrical devices and so on, which has got to be a good thing.

I have to agree Mansy with your comments. I am in Icmeler at the moment and have no more concerns for my safety than I do at home. I am enjoying my holiday as I usually do and apart from some parts of the resort looking in need of TLC Icmeler continues to be my holiday resort of choice. The resort seems to be getting busier by the day and I am pleased to see this for the sake of the businesses and those who work so hard to make our holidays special. For those who make negative remarks about coming to Icmeler I just "sling them a deafy". Carpe Diem.

Good to see people posting who have already been this year and commenting on how safe they felt, etc - hopefully if people see more and more comments like this, it will allay some of their concerns or fears and encourage them to book too!

I`m waiting for the " rather you than me" when I tell people we`re off to Turkey, i`m sure someone will mention it, but hey, who cares? My mate and his missus are in Cyprus at the moment for a family wedding, wonder if any of them will be aware of how close to Syria they are compared to Turkey. Anyhoo, 16 days to go `til we`re in sunny Icmeler, can`t wait.
To all there at the moment have a great time and save some Efes for me and all still to go,it wont be long 8) 8)

I'm glad it's not just me then, I feel very safe in Icmeler, always have done. So safe and comfortable that I would go on my own if I had to. I know I'd be well taken care of and I'd never be stuck for someone to talk to. Our friends arrived in Turunc this afternoon, said quiet but who cares. 3 more sleeps

Just back on Wednesday morning, felt just as safe as we did when we first visited 13 years ago, never felt worried one bit, quieter than it has been but we had a fabulous holiday and this year we ate in a different restaurant every night for 14 days, so looking forward to our next trip back in Icmeler in September, its still as good as ever, and definetly going to book again for next year. :)

Arrived back last Saturday after a week and as always had a brilliant time and felt safe and comfortable, as we always do. Quiet while we were there but glad to here it is getting busier as you feel for all the buisnesses. We have been coming since 2000 and nothing would stop us from returning we are booked for September. There is something magical about Icmeler that keeps drawing us back and we love it. To all who are there now and everyone else who are coming out enjoy a much as we do, I'm sure you will.

Came back on Wednesday after 14 nights and apart from being quieter than norml felt the resort was no different threat wise than it was in all my years of going to Turkey. No obvious increase in security that I could see

The resort did start to get a wee bit busier the 2nd week so fingers crossed that numbers increase over the weeks and months to come
