How far

Postby jules 1 » 12 Apr 2007 22:29

As time is getting close for us all to be jetting off I was wondering how far people have to travel to their airport, I have about a 10 mile journey and I only start to get excited about my holiday when I'm in the taxi on my way to the airport, I love the feeling you have when the airport is in site. Like Hamish I live near Glasgow and the airport is only about a 30 minute journey away. Have only ever flown from an English airport on one occassion, Manchester and never again. We had a night flight from Dalaman and got put out the apartment at 12.00. Did not get picked up until around 23.00 and flew out about 02.00. Got into Manchester around 05.00 and then a 4 hour drive back to Glasgow.Ntr recommended especialy at that time my son was only 6 years old.

I am lucky in that I tendto go slightly off season in May or September and prices generally are not much different from Scottish or English airports.
Only 5 weeks and 3 days till I arrive in Icmeler, not that Im counting of course

Takes us about 1 hour 20 mins to Glasgow Airport, and I also like to arrive early. This year our flight is at 8am so will need to leave home around 2.30am, usually we've had night flights - won't have any problem getting up though because I won't sleep for excitement - 6 weeks on Monday

Hiya

Our airport is an hour away which is Manchester. Normally i dont really get excited till we are on the plane, becasue the airport bit can be boring lol. Its going to be really annoying this year because we have a night time flight which i dont mind at all but i have to work on the day that i go so will finish about an hour before the taxi picks us up to go to the airport. better make sure im all packed the night before!!! What a nightmare - i prefered my old job where i could just have the day off or ring in sick and not have to worry about being told off!!!! :(:(:(

Since we've been able to fly from Liverpool the airport is only 20 mins away. Going 14th May - can't wait. Downside is we go again in October and no flights available from Liverpool so have to be Manchest about 1 hour away.

I live in Exeter but am flying from Bristol airport on my May holiday, so only an hour's drive up the M5. Flying at 9.50am so a fairly early start - it's probably the one day of the year I'll be awake before the alarm goes off!!!
Will be lovely to get there in time to unpack and shower before dining at the Lighthouse - and yes I even know exactly what I'll be eating!

When I go in August I'm flying from Exeter Airport - so it's just a 10 minute taxi ride - excellent!

I'm about 200 miles from Glasgow or Edinburgh from here in north Scotland-shire. Going is bad enough but coming back is a real bummer, feel like I need a holiday by the time I get home.
