Thomas Cook cock up

Postby mansy » 09 Aug 2015 15:17

I've got a fight on folks. Thomas Cook in there infinite wisdom have altered our flight home in September.
Can you believe this:-
Booked 7 nights. We fly out on the 18th September. Arrive Dalaman late on, so in resort by 11pm. That's night 1.
Stay in apartment on the nights of 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd & 23rd night 6. On the 24th which should be night 7 we will have to leave resort by 9pm to go to Dalaman for our flight home at 01:25 on the 25th. Now to me that is only 6 nights holiday. I've tried to get it resolved but Thomas Cook can't see a problem !!! They have offered to either cancel our 7th night, I don't think so do you. Or they will transfer us both onto the following days flight AT A COST OF £168 payable by me, I don't think so on that one either.
Head honcho at Thomas Cook now involved, I'm not giving in...watch this space.

Doesn't surprise me at all with TC - one of the reasons I would never book with them unless there was no alternative

I won't book with them ever again blondie.
I normally book it all myself, but had mega problems with my internet at the time. So I booked a package.
Not my best idea ever. It's their error, so I'll fight on.

I hope you are successful Mansy. Sounds like you are up for the fight  so I wish you all the best. Like Blondie I would never book with them, for me their reputation goes before them and I have also had bad experience so once bitten twice shy! Please keep us posted of the outcome. Thanks

Sorry to hear that Mansy.

I've also experienced this I believe it happens when a flight isn't selling particularly well and they amalgamate flights as rules around charter are different to scheduled arilines.

Not good for the customer and clearly not for you as your holiday has effectively been reduced.

Looking forward to your update - hopefully a positive one.

Well folks...perseverance paid off.

Got a phone call from Thomas Cook this afternoon. They have actually admitted THEIR mistake. This has been followed up by an email confirmation. New flight vouchers to follow.
Home bound Flight is now transferred at no cost to me.
We now have the 7 nights we booked and paid for. Flying home on 26th September at 02:25am.

Now I can relax and enjoy my 7 nights

Well done Mansy.

I do have to say something seems to be changing at Cooks if all the stories I am hearing are correct.
You are the 3rd person I have heard who has got a result (albeit with a push) - previously they would never have budged on such a thing.

Can only be a good thing for the customer.

Congratulations on your success with TC; its not a question of them not seeing the point but they DON'T want to admit their mistakes. Glad you kept on to them and you can now relax and look forward to 7 days holidays.

Delighted Mansy that you had a positive outcome to your complaint. I think there's not enough people take on these big companies making them think they can get away with sharp practice. Others should take a leaf out of your book!

Only a part refund chezza. They first offered a voucher towards "our next holiday", we declined and they came back with a partial refund.
Happy bunny now, new documentation received & printed out.
They still have one thing wrong on my final acknowledgement though, where it says in the event of any problem please contact us on this number....the number listed is MY MOBILE number. You gotta laugh haven't you !! The nice lady on the phone gave me the real numbers to call lol.
