excursion to ephesus

Postby shelly » 28 Mar 2015 13:33

We have done this excursion before and am sure it was not with I. C. R. We were disappointed last time as we only got about a hour to walk round and felt extremely rushed by the tour guide. Are they all the same ? My husband and I share a love for roman history and would love a personal tour guide . Can anyone recommend anyone ?

Hi, I'm surprised it was rushed? .. We've done the trip once about 3 years ago and although it was a very long day, it was fantastic! We had hours there and the Guide was excellent and full of knowledge and enthusiasm which made the Tour extremely enjoyable  ... If you go with a good imagination then you can almost see the area as a bustling City with Stalls etc on the walk down to the Library all that time ago!

We booked with Marco (next door to Cupids) as ICR couldn't get near his price? Not sure if all the Trips no matter who you book through are the same, but if I was a betting Man (which I am) then I'd say this was true :D

Hope this helps and enjoy

I don't know about the Ephesus trip - but not all trips are the same. Different tour sellers almost all offer variations on similar ones - some do sell exactly the same trips, but with others the itinerary can vary, and cheapest isn't necessarily best either.

We did the two day trip, Pamukkale & Ephesus last year, booked with ICR. The tour guide we had was fantastic, a very knowledgeable man who made the trip very enjoyable. We had the tour then was given free time to walk about ourselves. We have said maybe next time we would not do the tour, just stroll around on our own taking more pictures as we now know the history but we did enjoy the Ephesus tour and are glad we had a good tour guide for our first time there.

Thanks guys for your help , but I'm with Jay Jay , I'd love to stroll around on our own with no time limit with a good tour guide , last time the guide passed the arena , kept rushing us through . I'm not sure but do they have the head phone with points of interest? Also we would rather not do the shop stops .
Maybe a different approach to this excursion , I realise it's long coach trip ,, but maybe , something different instead of shop stops
I don't know turkey well enough to help on suggestions either on the way there or back.
Ephesus is amazing !! Well for us that love history
Any ideas John?
We are there on September the 7th for two weeks

We do a 2 day excursion that may be better for you but as for not stopping on the way there or back then the only way to do this is hire your own vehicle and go off on one yourself

Get it all planned, look at a route map and see what is on the way and make your own adventure

Maybe have a couple of nights in Kusadasi and then Bodrum

Life is one big adventure so add to it yourself
