Jambo

Don't forget that we can put together anything as in this one I just did for a customer/friend of mine

Jonathan Molloy here is a rough itinerary for your upcoming holiday in Turkey.29th May fly from Manchester and arrive in Istanbul 17.00ish, 3 days stay at a hotel in Istanbul of my choice and used many times by us close to Blue Mosque and all tourist area. After 3 nights leave 1st June and arrive in Canakkale where you will stay at a hotel right on the sea front with a sea view room looking over the Dardanelles to Galipoli. You will stay here for 2 nights (I thought that would be enough but we can always alter it) and then bus it down to Icmeler where you will have 9 nights in a studio at the Rhodes apartments. At Canakkale the ferry is right in front of the hotel to take you across the straits to Galipoli (from memory about 20 minutes) where you can then visit the war museums and cemeteries.Maybe you can hire a scooter in Canakkale and use on Galipoli but they do tours over there but I think better a map and your own steam.I based this just on 1 person Jon but we can always alter. So flights into Istanbul and returning to Manchester from Dalaman, all accommodations and return transfer to Dalaman.I never costed the coach from Istanbul to Canakkale or Canakkale to Icmeler but it will be pennies.Total cost to you for all this is £625.50p

No problem John, heard that there's a lot going on following the 'new' guidelines for this coming season

A new Walkway along the front and several places doing building work to ensure entertainment is on the 'inside' etc .... Be interesting come June to see the difference :D

There are people who live in Icmeler (ex pats) who I am told are putting movies and photos on the internet and then commenting about them as if they actually know exactly what is going on

In my opinion forums are for holiday makers/tourists and putting stuff on and reporting doom and gloom does not help the tourist trade nor the tourists

Every year in winter for as long as I have ever known Icmeler and Marmaris and every other resort in Turkey, there is construction and it seems that people have nothing better to do than to go on andon and on about rumours and conjecture

Would it be better if it were like Spain and the work carried on all through the season, no I don't think so.

I do not remember a time where stuff was knocked down or renovated or built and it did not look better when the season started and the tourists arrived

There were the canal stalls that people moaned over that they had gone, for me it didn't matter as I never used them but I do remember having a hard time to get past them as the walkway was very narrow and I do know other people that never missed them.

You cannot please everyone

There are bars and cafes on the promenade that I believe (hearsay again) have not got the planning permission or proper licenses, if they go then they should think well we did have a good run but now its time to be legal somewhere

People seem to champion a cause as in they should not go we love them best view etc, well I am up and down past those places all year daily and believe me you would be lucky to see more than 6 people at a time in any of them and night time empty (barring the one that shipped in Russian bus loads in the evening)

Things change and when its all done I will put up the finished product

Thanks for sharing your thoughts JT.

This year is only my 3rd year going to Icmeler but I have travelled extensively and I must say as a relative newbe I've never come across so many assumptions and negative comments about a destination making changes - pleased to say not so much on this forum :)

Last year people were getting into a twist about the changes in entertainment and this year its the changes to the promenade - for me the changes to entertainment made no difference at all.

I'm a great believer in change as nobody wants a resort that doesn't attract people because it looks jaded & I think the Icmeler experts do a great job in trying to manage expectations & calm folk down by advising to wait until the season starts.

Well said, chezza - I said the same last year when people (not necessarily on here) were getting themselves all in a flap about the entertainment changes. Wait until you get there, go with an open mind and see what you think for yourselves. The trouble now, with social media and everything, is that rumours can quickly spread and before you know it, half of Icmeler has supposedly been "demolished" and "we're all doomed" :D You know what I mean...

Peli,

I have read your last couple of posts on different topics and I will not go into details of the remarks you make but you give me the feeling that you have something against JT as well as ICR. We are a holiday company and this forum is for holidaymakers. I think there are a lot of other places where you can go and share your thoughts re JT and the company he represents etc. BUT Not here and not again.

I am not going to let you start cyber fights again like you done way back.

JT home? Eh? A tad uninformed, that. He doesn't come home! He lives in Turkey. He hasn't been in liverpool for 11 months. I know - he spent his last night here in my bar. Ah well, at least we have the freedom to come to this forum and discuss things, as well as being able to voice our opinions. There's facebook pages out there that don't allow any dissent from what the admins believe, and they'll happily bar people for not agreeing with them. I prefer this forum, it's a little more grown up. Keep up the good work, ICR.

I just want to let JT know that Mr M & myself appreciate everything you put on here. You don't have to go out & video anywhere. You do it because we, the holidaymakers and members of this forum requested any info & photos to keep us all going over the winter months. I'm sure a lot more people appreciate it also. Thanks again JT.
