Interesting that we are now seeing more posts from people just back from the resort and they are, in the main, all very positive about things... 8)

Pleased you had a good holiday mansy.
It is also the night time that we are "worried" about with having children. I hope that come july they have really got tbe hang of this look out plan and also the police presence is not as noticeable as I think that would be a bit weird maybe? Ive never experienced large numbers of police patrolling a holiday resort before.
Hopefully things aren't as quiet in july august and the police are busy dealing with other matters and things are a little more relaxed.

We have now been here a week and the changes in my opinion on are minimum and as for police presence no more than usual. Really can't understand what the fuss is about. Not the numbers of people but probably due to economy and the fines being issued by schools.

We certainly didn't notice loads of police on patrol - yes, you did see them, but not noticeably more than in previous years.

I'm going to enjoy my hol regardless of what entertainment is on. I'll just make a point of getting as many waiters as poss doing a 5-1.
There we go, my entertainment is sorted.

Quite disappointed there is not going to be a big police presence. Enjoyed playing 'spot the plain clothes policeman' when they brought the 'no hassle' policy in lol

Its a reference to the Scottish cup final in 2012 when Hearts beat Hibs 5-1

I agree with Ian. I have just returned about 10 days ago. It seems strange to me that some people are saying there are no changes. We are a family with children and there are changes in both music and entertainment and it is noticeable. There was only one show on and that was the male belly dancer (now that is rubbish ha!). Any bar/restaurant owners we know, and we know a variety now, say they hate the new laws and are very worried about how it will affect their businesses. Yes I agree that many people didn't know about the changes so the drop in tourists could in part be due to other reasons. Time will tell. Icmeler was never a loud in your face resort otherwise my family would never have gone as we have many times. It had the right balance. It had quiet bars, livelier bars etc. Something for everyone. There are obviously different types of tourists who go to Icmeler for different things and that's great. There are more Police patrolling and I saw them. Compared to the last few years it was very noticeable. Presumably if you don't like the shows you wouldn't be going in them bars so wouldn't be bothered if they were on or not. They were never on in every bar in Icmeler and last year the bars with the shows on were full every night, mostly with families, so we can't all be wrong. Its about your own choice on your own holiday. I still love Icmeler and had a fab holiday but I can see that there are many differing views about this subject and mine is just my view based on being in resort.

We came back a week ago after a great relaxing two weeks. I really enjoyed the no hassle policy and the couple of places we got it we just left and went elsewhere. We did get music when we were out but no real entertainment however we werent really looking for it, I did enjoy a night in Majestic but very quiet when we went.
Went to the Stella show, fab night and so funny, but in "smokers corner" a few people said they wouldnt return to Icmeler for the lack of entertainment in places.
We will return as it was perfect for us and really enjoyed it, we had entertainment in the hotel if we wanted it, but we went for a relaxing fortnight and thats exactly what we got

We saw "Esau", the male belly dancer, now past his prime, we also caught a bit of "Tina Turnoff", dancing on the bar in Majestic (a bloke in a wig & red dress) as we were walking past. I agree jumpingjack, we also still had a fantastic 10days, we will be returning in September for another week and we are already in discussion for our return next year with grandson in tow. A great time in our favourite place, the new mayor may be in office for 5 years but us hardy Icmelerites are in for the duration.

What did you do to keep the family entertained every night? Just looking for tips for when we go?

Hi Daisysun, the first week it was extremely quiet and we just went to try as many bars as we could to see if they were all the same entertainment wise. We found the "liveliest" were Bamboo and Romance. The staff are all friendly enough. They also have pool tables/play areas in there. There were a couple of bars near the canal that had bouncy castles so that kept them entertained. By the second week Bamboo and Romance had scouts outside checking for the Police so they did have music on. Hope this helps :D

Thank you :) we'll check them out the bouncy castles sound good and pool tables are always good for the older two (12 and 8)

I came home last week after 12 lovely days.

I have to say I didn't notice much difference without the dancing but then again I've not got a family.

It was actually really nice to sit and chat with the waiters and bar staff with music in the background.

The owner of one the restaurants I went to said he was quite pleased as he could offer a better service and sent the party seekers to Wonderboys lol.

95 days until I return :)

I agree Chezza100 with your comments. I came home on Saturday after 15 days in Icmeler and the changes did not affect me at all. I did notice a greater Police presence in and around the square and entertainment stopping when they were about. All in my party are adults so I can appreciate it would be different for families. Icmeler still is a place where I want to holiday and have booked to go back later in the year.
