Tandoori Sizzler... What a difference!

Postby Tiberius » 23 May 2014 12:30

Arrived home from Icmeler last night after 10 fantastic days. I wanted to reflect on my experience at the Tandoori Sizzler before writing about it and after about 5 days it's still the same.... Dreadful.

It was 2 years ago we last visited & I always knew it wouldn't be the same without Hakan & Levant in charge anymore but from the moment I sat down at the table I instantly felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave (first time I've ever felt like this anywhere in my life) but against my better judgement I decided to stay and give it a chance..... How very wrong I was.

The food was ok, have had better, have had worse but the service was nothing short of woeful in my honest opinion. The mismatched casual attire & amateurish approach of the management was very undesirable and unprofessional in my opinion, nobody seemed to have a clue either, 'headless chickens' springs to mind, two knives served instead of a knife and a fork, dashing off mid order to talk to people, strange conversation and comments... In general the whole evening was just very uncomfortable and had an element of sleaze and a dark undertone to it throughout.

May just have been me & this is just my opinion on the single worst dining experience I've ever had but I just thought I'd report it and see if anybody else felt the same/had similar experience. To me barely a shadow of its former self which is such a shame.

Otherwise a fantastic holiday was had

Hi,

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with this Restaurant.

We've frequented loads of times over the last 2 years and we've been to Icmeler 4 times in that time and never had an issue??

The Staff were friendly, chatty, presentable etc and the food was nice enough (although not the largest of portions) and at a good price, especially the Set Menu!

We were there for a 'sneaky' week late September gone into October and the Staff were the same as our previous visit in July and last year as well off memory. They served in there and then went onto wait on you in the Scotia Bar next door.

I can't remember any names, but we got chatting with a few of them and the 'front of house lad' with curly hair had a better Geordie accent than me and Mrs G and was hilarious!

We go 20/6 for 2 weeks and we'll be visiting again for sure, so only time will tell if the Staff have changed and your experience is the way it's going to be?? ... Shame if that's the case!

Again just my opinion on my/our experience, not a damnation of the place. I did think it was just me but we were a party of four and all were in agreement of my thoughts.

What made it worse was it wasn't very busy in the slightest so expected better regardless.

I hope for people who have enjoyed it there under the new owners that it was a one off and great nights are continually had but for us I think we will now avoid it.

That's a shame and although no excuse, being so early in the season doesn't help, as if it's 'new blood' then they may need time to settle in?

Did you know who I mean by the 'curly haired ' lad on the street? ... Just wondered if he's back again

Cheers

The Curly haired Geordie at the front is Ibraham and he is the owner of the restaurant and yes he is there again this year.

When he worked at the Three Bells he used to speak with a Glasgow accent & claimed he came from Drumchapel. My wife told him to wise-up & he stopped speaking to us until last year& now he SEEMS ok.

Cheers for the info Laney, be good to see him again

Regarding the accents (for a lad who lives in Istanbul) he should enter Britains got talent for the amount he can probably do!! Lol

That is disappointing to hear. I had an early break this year and as not much open I did eat a few nights here and I have to say I found the food excellent. Even my mum who is the fussiest eater in the world really enjoyed the beef casserole.

Hope just a one off bad experience and that you enjoyed the rest of your meals

Back in 8 weeks and counting :D

Inattentive, unprofessional or disorganised would be much more palatable than describing anyone working in the resort as 'Rebels from the border'.

In hindsight probably not the wisest choice of words I will edit my original post.

However in my defence I did not say 'they were', nor did I say anybody in the resort 'was'...... I said it 'felt like'.

No offence was ever intended.
