First time to Icmeler

Postby needsomesun » 28 Apr 2014 11:12

HI Guys
We are going to Icmeler in August staying at Mola Aartments. We don't really like boom boom music bars, but still want to have a good time. Suggestions and ideas would be appreciated. I know we are a bit out of town but that doesn't bother us much. Thanks in advance

We have been to Icmeler for the last 3 years. Its not as big a Marmaris but is only a short trip on the dolmus or water taxi. There are loads of bars and restaurants and even a club if you want to dance the night away! Most of the bars have "entertainment" on each night starting about 10.00 p.m. It varies from dancers, acrobats, bar shows, magicians. You do tend to see the same acts as they just travel from bar to bar but they are all good. The music has to stop at 12 o'clock each night. It has a lovely beach and I can honestly say it is one of the nicest places I have been to. They locals are friendly and we've met some lovely people there who we have stayed in touch with. We go to a water park in the mountains and the kids love it there. We go back in 3 weeks and again in August. I hope you enjoy!!

I haven't been to one recently but the last one we went to was in Armutalan which is near Marmaris so I can't help there. Whilst I think though when you change your money at the official exchange shops make sure you check the lira they give you at the desk. Last year they short changed me quite a few times then look surprised when you challenge them. They always gave me the right amount once I had asked them to recount it but you don't expect it at an official shop.m Another time even though the shop changed mine fine my daughter went in just after me and they tried to charge her commission even though the board outside said "no commission". Think its hard to keep track of the lira when they are counting it so quickly and call me sceptical but if they do it a few times a day............

Thanks for that. We chose it because it had great reviews and it was out of the centre. We might regret it if we decided to walk into town in blazing heat though!!!
Thank goodness for the dolmus!! :D 8)

hi need some sun
weve been going to turkey for some 20 years now and icmeler is no doubt the best place in turkey sore sure.

If you are iat the back of the old village which is a great place to stay. still a few bars restaurants and only 10 mins to main street are and 20 mins to the beach
the dolmus bus will run straight past your apartments and if you are coming back on the bus later ask for old village and apartments and they will detour to drop you near, cant ask more than that.
walk down here the dry canels are and you can miss the main area

loads of beach bars and the best bar for a view is far left of the beach as you walk to marmaris and overlooks the bay. id pay twice the price for a beer there for the view

the turkish baths are great but ive been to a few and some try to sell you add ons and takes hours you could be there 3 hours plus

theres a turkish bath near the indoor markets on main road just down some steps. look for the turksh bacth on the main corner and gor right 50 years on your left.
you will be in have a turkish bath etc for a few quid and a great laugh

a must is to go to the stella show drag act which is brilliant
we go every time in icmeler and is still as funny
its in a beach bar afr right of the beach as you are walking towards icmeler harbour. book in and get goods seats.

if you dont you will miss a treat

try the local turkish restaurants just into the old village all the locals go there young and old and brilliant food
best restaurants other thean the truly turkish is romance bar, love boat, the light house near the new fountains in the square

if you dont have a good time ill pay for your holiday!!

My favourite, Venice by the canal. I already have my table booked for June 4th, there will be a bottle of wine awaiting Mr M & myself.

Hi
I'm sure you won't regret staying further back in icmeler.
although I haven't been to the mola apartments this is our favorite part to stay in.
This year we are staying at the oren hill which is nearby.
The mountains and old village make it for us and it's not too far to walk into town.15 minutes at the most.
Enjoy.

We've also stayed in the old town area quite a few times, it is lovely. It isn't to far away from the centre of everything.
Icmeler is just a lovely friendly place full stop, you will soon be under the spell, I think it may be the first of many holidays there for you. Enjoy 8)
