Drinking Water

Postby welshdoll3 » 22 Mar 2007 13:06

How many of you buy bottle water while in Icmeler and is it really safe to drink the water from the taps dotted around as I have been doing this for the last 4 years and have never been ill,

The water is safe but its just got a high mineral content and on different people it upsets the stomach.
If you have been fine drinking it already i suppose you should be ok.

Hi, it's ok to drink the water from the wells that you see dotted around the resort, it's fresh water from the mountain springs I think. In fact, you see all the Turkish women filling up loads of big plastic bottles at them every day for their personal use. Never had any problems with it.

I don't drink tap water here so wouldn't even think about drinking tap water in Icmeler.
As Debbie says it's completely safe to drink, just it has a higher mineral content which can cause upset tummies in some people.
I always use tap water to clean my teeth and never been bad.

Hmmm, On the odd occasions That I have had the "Turkey trots" I've always been told to avoid the salads and ice cubes because they were made from / washed in the local water. Anybody who has had to go running to the local pharmacy holding their stomach will confirm that it's more than just an upset tummy. I think I'll stick to the bottled water just to be on the safe side.

I think there's a wee bit of people getting their wires crossed on this one.
It's not tap water that I've drunk in the past, I wouldn't risk that, but water from the wells that are situated around the resort. These are where you see the locals filling their bottles.

I never buy water now.
I send the missus up into the Old Village to the spring water taps,
were she fills two 5 litre plastic bottles every day,
Money saved goes towards our beer kitty.
