Marmaris Theme Park

Postby JT » 07 Dec 2013 12:45

There will be a new theme park to be built in Marmaris near Netsel Marina by next May.

It will be placed on a 9500 m2 piece of land near the council sports centre, at the end of the marina, across from the Lighthouse bar.

The people who won the bid to build the complex paid 5 million Turkish Lira for 5 years, and they are expected to have rides like other fairgrounds do.

There is a theme park in Ankara that I myself have actually visited (never went on the rides, if it goes up or spins it isn't for me)and the owners of that also made a bid but lost but it will be similar to that one with the usual fairground rides and of course side stalls for the faint hearted

People have kids and not all families just want a beach so it will bring more people and more money into the resorts which can only be a good thing

If you don't like that sort of thing well it is to be tucked out of the way so it won't be "in your face"

Well not for me either but it is a distraction on a same old same old day

Every other resort in Europe and some in the USA has them and they are all packed out in the summer

Marmaris isn't my cup of tea either, let alone the new theme park. If all those years ago we had picked Marmaris for our first visit instead of Icmeler we would never have returned. Just glad the new theme park is in Marmaris, not Icmeler.

Same here, Mansy - but on the plus side, it is an added attraction for those with families, and while it's far enough away not to bother us in Icmeler, it's close enough for folk to pay it a visit easily enough if that is their cup of tea.

Personally I will not be going to this, its just not my cup of tea. However I can see the attraction for some and as JT says it will be a distraction from just sitting in sun all day. You just have to look around the world and there are theme parks everywhere and they seem to do very well. Depending on the size of the theme park this may even encourage more people to come to Turkey which can only be a good thing

if you have kids then it would be great, but as a whole Marmaris aint our cup of java either, give us "laid back Icmeler" anytime. We have been to Floridas theme parks and they are fantastic and certainly a lot of the rides aint for scaredy cats like me, so yes if the new theme park was along those lines then it would be a money spinner for Turkey. :) :)

Agree that I'm glad it's in Marmaris and not Icmeler ... Imagine??

Also good thing for families, as the kids must get bored doing what us Adults think is relaxing .. So hope it works out well once completed etc.

I'm not a 'Scary Ride' type of guy and although Mrs G is, I'm the sad looking bloke holding a handbag by the Rides whilst I wait for my thrill seeking Wife to grow up and join me!

She took me to Blackpool 3 years ago and although I went on a couple .... Never again! .. But 2 years ago we went to Alton Towers with my 2 sons and it cost £45 for me to gain entrance and go on nothing! Waste of time!

Many years ago I would have been spinning and looping the loop on these parks, but as I am older and wiser now, no thanks.
The saying, been there - done that, fits the bill. Ok, let's have these for the young ones that want them. In Marmaris please
Let's keep Icmeler more sedate, for us "more refined folk" and I say that with tongue in cheek !
