open the box?

Postby daisysun » 31 Jul 2013 20:58

just wondering if the game open the box (i think thats what its called) is still being played any where?
We saw it advertised outside one of the bars/restaurants next to the harbour last Sept, and also the red lion said they were going to play it one night so we went in to watch and maybe take part but they didn't do it. Before flying out last year we had seen it played on you tube at the old lemon tree and it looked like fun, so kept a eye out for it but these were the only 2 places that said they had it on? but never actually got to see it/take part.
Do more places play it in July rather than Sept?
has anyone played it?

The Red Lion play it, and its most fun!
Saw lots of people win 50tl up to 100tl +
And the The Red lion really is a great place to go, fab food, great entertainment and the best bunch of guys you'd ever wish to meet.

Even if they gave me 100TL, you wouldn't get me to go into the Red Lion... :(

Thanks for your replies :D
i really hope we get to see it/take part next year, its just something different and with an element of suspense, and of course the chance to win a little more spending money. We went into the red lion last year, we had a good night and a nice meal and the kids loved the entertainment and were up dancing with the staff and putting turkish hats on etc, we had a good night

We went a few times but only because we knew that Eddie and Mahmut from the Istanbul had moved there, not too keen on it otherwise.

Another no no for the Red Lion. The food is average at best but they do tend to pester you and the service can be very slow at times

is it just the hassle that puts people off going to the red lion :?:
we went last year and had a good night and the food was on par with other places we had been to before that night (we had nicer meals afterwards, down next to the water features but cant remember what the restaurants were called), but by no means bad and the staff were friendly, even give the kids a free music cd.
Have people had bad meals there?

We went in for lunch and it was disappointing to say the least, but what was worse was the attitude of the staff. We complained at the time, but they were completely indifferent, so we just paid up and left. The next time, we got hassled to go in again, and when I said we wouldn't because of the last experience, they turned nasty, called me a liar - then when I went to walk away, one chased me down the side street swearing at me.
This year, hubby and I were passing again and yet again, same hassle. I told them I wouldn't go back, so the guy on the door got the manager and he said I couldn't have been in his place and must be lying...

Oh thats not good, i wouldn't go back to a place if they treat us like that either, no need for it, especially chasing you down the street swearing. We had a bad experience last year at the market with one of the stall holders (boxer short stall) swearing at us (kids were with us as well) and calling us names just because we didnt buy anything off him, even started pulling our pushchair back to his stall!
