Mens dress code

Postby decko50 » 10 Jul 2013 16:20

Hi All
My wife and I have been Icmelerites for the past 12 years I am in my early 60S, the misses is a bit younger.
When we first went to Icmeler in 2001 the main evening attire for men was a shirt and light trousers.
As the years go on this is now more and more relaxed.
Last year I took 2 pairs of light jeans, and only wore one pair one night, wore shorts other nights
This year( we fly end of August) I think I will just take my shorts, so if you see "Don Estelle" in resort it ain't arf hot mum, its me.

PS
Not a criticism just an observation.

Agreed, too hot to wear even lightweight trousers, but have good quality ones for wearing just at night.

Dress code - no, never worn dresses, (no, honest - and I've lost any photos if they ever existed !!!) leave that to her indoors - my legs are too muscley and hairy - don't want to scare the locals !

I agree with you Steve ...Standard dress of Trousers and Short sleeve shirt, a habit acquired many years ago while serving in the R.A.F.
When the Lady has taken so long on selecting and purchasing an outfit plus taken so long to get ready before venturing out, it is only fitting that the man makes a little effort to complement her.
Vest, T shirt and Nylon shorts ..... No.

for an evening out I usually wear 3/4 length shorts and a cotton short sleeved top with a loose fitting collar.

I appreciate what you 'traditionalists' are saying but when it's 30 deg C at midnight, long trousers for me are just too warm.

In this country however, that's a completely different view, nice jeans & trainers or trousers & shoes (depending on the occasion) and a nice long sleeve shirt - tucked in for formal look, or untucked for informal...

When I do wedding disco's or corporate disco's, I always wear a dinner jacket with matching trousers with a white wing-collar shirt and bow tie.

I like to see a man smartly dressed. On holiday, men in a crisp pair of linen trousers and a loose shirt, with a tan, looks really nice. Looks pretty classy and I'd imagine quite cool to wear of an evening.

And with Linen Trousers those sweat patches could be quite embarrassing!

my husband prefers to wear light trouser in an evening, and a short sleeved shirt, he feels better going out for an evening meal looking a bit smart and not like he is going to the gym......( where as i let the ide down sometimes, and have to put shorts on due to the heat)

Mr M likes to wear smart just below the knee shorts and a short sleeve shirt.
Tried the " linen trouser " look one year. Wore them once.
As long as you are comfy in whatever you wear and the other half agrees, then it's up to the individual.
I myself wear maxi dresses.

Well said.

In the end we are not going into five star restaurants (Although a lot of the food we eat could make you think we are in one.)

I like to be comfortable, for me it is a short sleeve shirts and knee length shorts (None sports or swim), in August it is far too hot for long trousers.
