Why?

Postby **B** » 06 Mar 2007 14:31

Does anyone know why the music has to be off by 12 in Icmeler???

It dosent bother me most nights cause we go to Bar Street but it would be more fun if the pubs could keep goin after midnight!

Apart from that, still luvin Icmeler and cant wait to go back!

I think 12 midnight is a good time to close down the music. Bars can still play it as long as its low. People who want to retired early are then able to sleep. Not me!!!

I think it's because Turkey are trying to join Europe and are following guidelines that prohibit loud music after a certain time. I might be wrong but thats what I was told.

Hi

I've been told that because Icmeler is a residential area, the music has to be turned down after midnight to show consideration to residents.

Hi Babs,

Bar Street is in Marmaris near the harbour. It is lined with nightclubs and bars.

I'm not sure why the music is switched off at 12.00, but it's always been so in all the years I've been visiting... but I do quite like it....
I just love wandering back from the Cafe del Mar in the wee small hours when it's all quiet and peaceful.... hearing the gentle lapping of the sea with just the lovely smell of Icmeler in the air, a clear sky with lots of stars and the soft humm of people sitting in the restaurants still open just chatting with no blaring music.... bliss!

Ooooh to be there NOW!

I always maintain as Marmaris is so near and easy to get to if you fancing raging until dawn, it's like having the best of both worlds!

Where is the Cafe del Mar? I'm sure I've seen it but just can't place where it is. Was thinking its near the Erdem on the beach.

The Cafe Del Mar, is the opposite end of the beach to the Deniz Kapisi, just as the walkway to marmaris starts to rise, but still in Icmeler. Lovely place.

Thanks for that, I've never been there, but will certainly give it a visit when I go out on 28 May.
