First night?

Postby madmackem » 07 Feb 2013 09:45

Hi everyone

Well the new season is almost upon us again and we will all be thinking of the things we will be doing, but what we always look forward to is the first night. We have a tradition that our first night is always spent at Friends Resturant , we meet old friends catch up on what's changed since our last visit and have a fantastic meal. A great start to our holidays. What's your first night traditions.

Gettin smashed on Efe's

Last year we arrived at the hotel about 7am due to really bad flight times (thanks to TC) so our first actual night was a tame affair as we were so knackered.

This year we will be arriving at the hotel around 9:30pm-10pm so will defo have enough time to roughly unpack then hit the hotel restaurant for beer & snacks. We don't generally have a 'tradition' as such.

Whatever time we arrive we just drop the bags in the room and straight down to the bar for quite a few Efes and a catchup with the apartment staff, has been known even arriving at 5am, if we arrive in the evening it's off to see Typhun at Harry Rams, if it's very late evening we goto Nefes and then for a few mores Efes until the early hours.

In the past our first meal if we arrived in time used to be at Ozzy's when it was on the opposite the Wenbley bar, it was never the same when it moved down the road and obviously it's been closed for a couple of years.

Last year we arrived about 11pm, we had a few Efes and then at 1am we went to Nefes, it was one of the best kebabs I have every eaten, looking forward to our first night on the 29th July, if the flight is on time we should hopefully be sitting have our first Efes at 5pm which will be one of the earliest arrivals we have ever had.

It's on the main road going upto the Old Village. The same road as the Romance Palace, Hanadan restaurant, Babadan Apartments.

If you are at the new square with the fountains walk up the road away from the beach, straight across the cross roads and it's 150 metres on the left.

They don't serve Alcohol, last year I had an Adana Kebab with all the trimmings, my wife had a chicken shish with the trimmings, one bottle of coke and one water the total came to 30Lira, absolute bargain.

Hi Dave,

We have been visiting the Nefis for the last couple of years and have always had a beer with out meal.

Last year we had one cheese and pepperoni pide, one turkish goulash, 2 beers (large bottles of effes) and one water and the bill was 40tl.

Thanks Patsiej

You live and learn, I was told many years ago (2004-2005) they didn't so I have never ever asked in all these years and to be honest I have never looked to see if anyone else was drinking, thats going to be even better then as I can now have an Efes with my Adana.

Last 2 holidays have arrived at 2am and knackered so it was bed for me. First proper night is always Bonjour for my fave steak dinner!

This year I am hoping to get there at around 2 in the afternoon, so it will be drop the bags, bikini on and straight to the pool, via the bar to purchase my first Efes of the year! Mmmm ice cold refreshment. The first hol is with the parents this year so I know that it will definitely be Bonjour! Yum. :D

We asked last year for a beer with our Pide and was told they didn't sell alcohol. :?

How strange. We have never had any trouble. The first time we went there (2011) and asked for Effes with the food, we expected them to say they either didn't sell it or would send out and buy it elsewhere. In fact they had it in the fridge so last year we just ordered it. Maybe JT could shed some light on the situation?

We arrived at 2.30am last year, dumped the cases in the rooms at the senem, and went in search of efes, as they wouldnt serve us. jimmy from jimmys bar (The garden) came past on his moped, asked us where we were going, so we told him, an he reopened his restaurant, and served us drinks and dinner till 6am! Only in içmeler :-) On a not so nice note, we went to go in nefis one night last year, and as we crossed the road to go in a member of staff blew his nose and chucked the tissue into the street!!!! Needless to say we crossed back over and went elsewhere!

Last year we arrived at our hotel around 11pm, so we got the security guy to take our luggage up to our room (always get the same room), and we headed to the bar. Unpacked the suitcases around 2.30am then sat on the balcony drinking some more Efes just admiring the view.

The year before we arrived at 6.30am, went straight to our room and phoned room service (3 times!) for Efes and sat on the balcony drinking Efes and pinching ourselves to make sure we were really there at last.
