Try Staysure as they include many pre existing conditions, and their excess is only £65.

I had a bit of a problem getting my Mum insured, every one I tried would either not accept her, accept her excluding her medical condition or we were quoted as much as the holiday would cost. Most of those who say they cover for elderly and cover medical conditions, including Staysure wouldn't insure her. I eventually found Global which was very reasonable in price and would cover her for everything. Downside was that in case of medical treatment she had to pay the first £1000 if we claimed but its better than paying £400 for one fortnights trip away or to not be covered for the condition you suffer from! Considering medical treatment can run into thousands I thought it was a great deal and I always have my credit card with me to pay should anything happen. The chap on the phone is always very helpful and when my Mum did actually need medical treatment we did not have to pay as much as was in the small print. We have been using them for few years now.

Travel Insurance is very important especially whe travelling to countries that are not part of the EU. My parents have their travel insurance now with SAGA as both of them have medical conditions which should they occur while in turkey would be very costly to treat. Be very careful with insurance companies who seem to be offering cheap insurance if you have medical conditions, read the small print very carefully because you may find that the excess is very high or that you are not covered for any pre existing medical conditions. It is alwasy better to pay a little bit more and be completely covered than to take the risk. We have encountered some people this year who have had to receive medical treatment while on holiday only to find out they either didn't purchase medical insurance or they were not covered for an existing condition. Remember Turkey is not part of the EU so your E111 medical card will not get you treatment for free here and any treatment you do receive does have to be paid for.

I have to second the above post, I have medical problems and my husband is over 75 - I've had lots of quotes and so many will appear cheap but when you read the small print you really are NOT covered for all problems, some cover for cancellations only, some for limited medical help, others won't fly you home if needed it really is a minefield. I have opted for SAGA for the last few years and yes it is expensive (around £300) for a 2 week holiday for us - can't get annual because medical conditions may change and the age factor - but I feel safe with it. When I've told friends they ALWAYS say to try "so and so" but then I read the small print, and tell them to try on my behalf and they fail every time to come up with anything much cheaper that gives the cover I feel I need/want.

Please everyone - read the small print before you commit yourselves, it could cost you an awful lot more if anything happens and you haven't got the cover needed for your circumstances. It is horrible that those of us with health problems have to pay so much but for peace of mind believe me it is worth it.
